Hawaii, April 8th (and 9th?) - Aloha Stadium! - Part XIV

Second U2 show unconfirmed
Star-Bulletin staff
features@starbulletin.com

So is there going to be a second U2 concert at Aloha Stadium? The rumor mill has been abuzz that it is a go for Sunday, April 9, the day after the band's first concert. That Saturday event is a near sellout, with only $95 tickets still available in the stadium's J and JJ sections in the upper, fifth-level yellow area.

As of now there is no official word from stadium officials on the second show.

If tickets do go on sale for a second show, it will happen around Pro Bowl weekend, Feb. 11 and 12. The thing is, the sale does not want to conflict with talk that tickets for Jack Johnson's Kokua Festival on April 22 at the Waikiki Shell are going on sale that busy weekend as well. So they supposedly will be held on a separate Saturday and Sunday.

Johnson will once again headline the show, which will include guests Willie Nelson, Ben Harper, Henry Kapono, former "American Idol" contestant Paula Fuga and her One Love 'Ohana, and ALO (the Animal Liberation Orchestra).

» What is the time difference in Hawaii? Here you go: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ If you ask this question on the thread, be aware that you will be receiving this :madwife:

» The band will be flying to Honolulu from Australia, and the concert here will also feature opening band Rocko & the Devils. Rocko, being none other than the U2 Crew's own Rocko Reedy

» 15,000 GA tickets, 20,000 seats.

» The stadium will be in the baseball configuration, with the stage in the center-field area, facing south.

» Something to consider for GA line purposes. Hawaii's Largest Swap Meet is held every Wed, Sat & Sun 6am-3pm at the stadium's parking lot. This is good for food, restrooms, etc. purposes, but probably a bit of a problem for a peaceful set up.

Looks like we should be ok so long as set up is done in the area immediately adjacent to the stadium.

Welcome Interferencers going to Hawaii!!

This site is for organizing tickets, finding out who is going, and staying where and discussing partying in Honolulu. Explore the room. This is an interactive page.

You can post MESSAGES for everyone to read. You can read and add LINKS. The LINKS section already has helpful tips to make your trip more enjoyable. Feel free to add your own travel tips including flight or hotel deals.

Please fill in the appropriate DATABASE when you have made travel arrangements. Even if you don't know this info, simply add your name to the "Where are you staying" DATABASE and leave the rest blank. You can always go back and edit the info. This will help with the gathering planning and you will know if other Interlanders are staying in your hotel. New DATABASE added for travel tips to Hawaii, things people better not forget to pack. Any suggestions, please add them.

You can post your picture in the PHOTOS section so we know who we are looking for in Hawaii. There is also a POLLS section.

Zootopia is organizing a thank you display for the band

We're now at 25,000 Lokahi-ONE signs for the Hawaii shows....still 13,000 signs to go!

We have 37 volunteers to hand out the signs the day of the show.

Please, it will not take much of your time, if we all join as ONE we can make this happen. Also, please consider printing signs, or discover how you can help, even if you are not going to Hawaii.

Let's give the 4 boys a BLAST of a surprise for their LAST Vertigo show!

Email hans444@u2.com if you have any questions.

Also, Miroslava has requested that Jason Momoa be on hand to Lei the ladies at the airport as they deplane

Thora, I had GA for Van 1, I don't remember what section for Van 2, I lost my ticket after I entered the stadium ( it was the first time in 4 trips to GM place that I saw the inside of the place besides the floor, all U2 shows) but about 1 foot to the left of Edge's piano, now quite directly looking at the side of the stage.

4 GAs still coming up at TM, I pity the poor bastards who bought tickets off scalpers when they find out about this.

Having sat side stage a number of times, I can vouch for the fact that those seats, while perhaps in the 2nd price tier, are often superior to the direct on view seats at the waayyyyyy back that are 1st pricing tier. I don't go to watch the screens, I go to be close to the band. I've been side stage literally 30 ft from the Edge in supposedly "inferior" seats that I wouldn't have traded for a moment. Actually, L is even with what would have been the tip of the ellipse, which were the most coveted and expensive reserved seats of this tour.
I had behind the stage seats for a number of shows this tour, and I LOVED them!!  I was so close, completely unobstructed by GA standing, and I could see everything that went on!

That said, the stadium stage setup is completely different from the arena stage. There are no light curtains to see through, and they don't go up and down, the wall stays down. I wouldn't be too keen on these seats for a stadium show.

^the cool thing about side or behind stage is looking out at all the people cheering for you, I mean, U2. At first, I was almost self-conscious standing up in my seat because it just feels so weird looking out there.

ETA but it gives you an idea of what life for the band is like and why Bono gets such a rush from it

What about the people that lined up at the Aloha Stadium the day before the general ticket sale started and all ended up without GA tickets then and now (more than a month later) they have the possibility to buy them online.

^I would be pretty pissed about this upon hearing about it if I was in their shoes.

perhaps there are more tickets (GAs) popping up because, after Monterrey, their estimate of how many people the field could hold changed? I dunno - just putting my

NO! Don't pack the field even tighter with sweltering hot bodies like sardines so we cannot move or breathe and we dare not leave our spots for any reason.

I'm one of those people. I'm assuming I can't order GA tickets now because I already got 4 reserved on that first day?

do you already have the 4 tickets? Why couldn't you buy more now?
or have a friend purchase them for you if there might be an issue

Hi Miringeltje,

Can you please update the information about the Lokahi-ONE initiative in the first post of this thread? Please replace the first two phrases:
We're now at 15,000 Lokahi-ONE signs for the Hawaii shows....still 30000 signs to go!

We have 16 GA volunteers and 1 reserved seat volunteer to hand out the signs the day of the show.

with the following phrases:
We're now at 25,000 Lokahi-ONE signs for the Hawaii shows....still 13,000 signs to go!

We have 37 volunteers to hand out the signs the day of the show.

Thank you for letting people know about this on this board :)

Hans

PS: We still need more volunteers, especially people with reserved seat. Please consider helping out:

Thanks!

I don't think there's anything stopping you from going to a ticketmaster outlet tomorrow morning and buying all the tickets you want.

Mmmmmmmmmmm, maybe I should consider this as a sign. :hmm:

And to answer your question, Kevin:  we noticed!
See the end of the previous thread.

Still GA's available as well.

I had side seats for Dublin 2 and 3... First full section on Adam's side and First full section on Edge's side respectively and the view was AMAZING! And the visuals came through just fine... If I was sitting, I'd definitely prefer the M section over anything else...

And thanks Miri... I was planning on getting rid of the 9th? for the next thread, so I did. If we get suprised, great. But we're starting to look like freaking Pollyana's here

Hans, I added your info. Members can only edit their own posts for 30 minutes or so. :)

It's an hour actually.
I guess it's a bad sign that I know this.

Thanks for changing and adding, Miroslava.
I don't mind that you got rid of the 9th.
I left it out at first too.
But than I changed my mind and added it back in.
See what I was talking about above.
Quite the editor I am.

Thanks, yea...I guess I panicked last night and thought the GA's would disappear in minutes again. I only have 1 credit card so I thought there was a 4 ticket limit on the same card/address. I'll try to get some with cash today.

I've seen U2 8 times but never in GA....so I think I'll go for it, just hope my body/bladder holds out. Wish me luck...I'd love to meet everyone in the GA line.

So I bought 3 GA's on the first day of general sale and they have arrived. My question is: if I wanted to buy 2 seats through TM, would I be able to?

BTW just pulled up M and GA tickets.

just was able to pull up 2 GA's no problem at all

almost got them to calm my still no ticket fears :reject:

I did! picked up 2 just in case the presale tix get denied (not my original code).

I may end up with a bunch of GA now, so NO ONE should think about going to ebay. I prolly got ya covered.

Right on. It sounds like the same area where I was for Van 1. It was so cool being so close. I would have loved to be in GA, but my best friend is very short, so we got seats instead. Someday I'll have a GA experience, I hope!
