I've never been to Hartford before so I have a couple of questions. How far away from the civic center is the Holiday Inn Express? Also, according to the civic center's website, the ga line will be inside the shopping mall...what time does this shopping mall open and where would the line form before then?

HOTEL AND SOUND CHECK

YOU'RE TWO BLOCKS FROM THE CIVIC CENTER. WALK OUT OF HOTELS FRONT DOOR, TAKE A LEFT, WALK UP ASYLUM ST TWO BLOCKS, LEFT ONTO TRUMBULL ST, ENTRANCE TO MALL ON TRUMBULL ABOUT 150 FEET UP ON LEFT. LINE IS INSIDE THE LOBBY AREA. JUST WALK STRAIGHT IN. THE LINE FOR GA HAS NEVER GOTTEN OUT SIDE . TICKET WINDOW USUALLY OPENS AT 10AM. OR 12 NOON. I'LL FIND OUT MORE TOMORROW.

SOUND CHECK USUALLY AROUND 4 PM. THE BAND WILL ENTER A RAMP ON ANN STREET, ABOUT 50 FEET FROM ASYLUM STREET. USUALLY WITH A POLICE ESCORT AND TIGHT SECURITY. I'LL GET BACK WITH MORE INFO. THE RAMP GOES UNDER THE ARENA.

TICKET DROP

THE LAST TIME U2 WAS IN HARTFORD THEY RELEASED LESS THAN 30 TICKETS, SOME GA'S. THAT HAPPENED AROUND 6PM. AND THERE WERE VERY FEW PEOPLE AT THE TICKET WINDOW. I TALKED WITH THE HEAD OF SECURITY AT THE CIVIC CENTER LAST WEEK AND SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW OF ANY TICKET DROPS. IF IT HAPPENED IT WOULD BE A FEW HOURS BEFORE SHOWTIME. SHE SAID THIS IS GOING TO BE A TOUGH TICKET HERE. THE PEOPLE WORKING THE WINDOW TODAY ARE STILL SHOWING A SELLOUT. I'LL KEEP CHECKING. YOU HAVE TO KEEP CHECKING THE TICKET WINDOWS. THEY DON'T LET YOU WAIT AT THE WINDOWS UNLESS SOMETHING POPS UP.

They will not allow you to form a line in the event tickets become available???

SSHHIITT!!

There is no order to that then -

there will just be a ridiculous random frenzy in the afternoon with people constantly popping their heads in to check on tickets - until security gets all pissed off.

I was going to show up early, but I want it to at least pay off IF tickets become available -

I'd be LIVID if I waited since the wee hours of the morning, and they would not allow us to form a line - then here comes somebody that put NO time into it and grabbed tickets!

I don't think it would pay to look for tickets until the day of the show - and then maybe not even then - but I like the reward to risk ratio when it comes to seeing U2!

Thanks FIREDOG! So what time does the entrance inside open in the morning? Is there a certain spot where the line might start before the doors to get inside open?

You want to line for the GA'S to the left of the arena doors There will be 12 or so purple arena doors and they are just to the left of the ticket window MSG SECURITY will get a single line formed.The ticket window opens at 12 noon but the mall doors open as early as 8am. DEFINITELY BY 10 AM. I'll let you know more later. Your best bet is to enter the mall on Trumbull Street under the jumbotron sign I'LL GET BACK WITH MORE INFO.
