AUSTRALIA – THE WAIT IS OVER!!

Following their triumphant tour of Europe and North America

U2

VERTIGO//2005//2006

IS ON THE WAY TO AUSTRALIA

78 SOLD OUT ARENAS – NORTH AMERICA

32 SOLD OUT STADIUMS – EUROPE

It’s been 8 years since U2 last played to their thousands of Australian fans.

U2//Vertigo//2006 will commence in early February with stops planned in Mexico, South America, New Zealand, Australia and Japan. The Australian & New Zealand leg of the tour promises fans no less of a passionate spectacle than the shows to date.

With current ticket sales in excess of 3.4 million world-wide, U2// Vertigo//2005 is the top selling tour of 2005.

Ticket demand was so overwhelming in the Northern Hemisphere that all seats for the 110 show world tour were sold prior to the tour kick off in San Diego last March.

U2 began their Vertigo//2005 tour March 28th and throughout North America and Europe they delighted both music critics and fans. In Europe, sales were so brisk that box office records were shattered throughout the UK and in Spain, Dublin, Paris & Vienna. In North America enthusiastic fan demand resulted in numerous multiple play dates including 10 sold out New York area performances, 7 Boston play dates and 6 shows each in Los Angeles and Chicago.

U2//Vertigo follows the release of the band’s 11th album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb which has now sold over 2.85 million copies in the United States. The "U2//Vertigo//2005 Live from Chicago" long form DVD will be released on November 20th. Filmed at the United Centre in Chicago during the band’s May performances this DVD captures the passion and intensity of U2 live.

where was the press release?!
where or what is the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre?!

That's ANZ ... is it?

Whats wrong with the Brissie venue? Thats not too far from the Gold Coast is it?

Apparently ANZ sucks as a venue.

Well, I just hope it's handy to transportation. I'll be living in Brisbane in March, around UQ.

Also, wasn't there said to be a Sydney date on the 30th? I don't suppose that will fit in between Adelaide and the show on the 31st. Besides the second Melbourne date on the 25th, does anyone think any more shows will be added? One more in Auckland?

Hey, SOAR, do you mind if I take the text of the PDF and post it on the home page of U2-Vertigo-Tour.com?

The document did not originate with me. It was posted on Zootopia as a pdf. All I did was extract the text.

I've pasted it onto a few U2 sites, I don't see why you can't too.

I see it's making its way nicely around the Internet now. I can't wait for the Kiwi papers to get out there. I'm going to be up in the wee hours of tomorrow morning to watch NZ play England in the rugby, so I hope the newspaper reports will be online by then.

And what do we think about extra dates? There isn't room for any more in Brisbane or Adelaide (nor would there be demand), but Auckland, Melbourne, and Sydney could do it. I have confidence in the 25th for Melbourne. I have my doubts Sydney will get a second as Telstra Stadium's so big, and hopefully it's logistically possible for a second to be added in Auckland.

If memory serves correctly, puppy said Ticketek handle all three of BEC, ANZ, and Lang Park.

Are we going to try the Internet route or queue?
