Tag a forum member?

Something I saw on another forum (note: no idea what platform they are on or if it's in any way similar to the one we're on here).

But what about the ability to tag forum members in posts? I suppose this would require some sort of alert system and/or a new sort heading similar to New Posts called Posts I'm Tagged In or something..

Maybe a bit convoluted..but worth the effort? Probably one of the bigger upgrades in recent history?

Tags are used on U2vox.com. It's actually a very handy feature, where you simply place the @ sign in front of a username like @gvox and the forum notifies you that you have been tagged (or mentioned) in the thread. It also auto links to the username's profile page.

It's a good way to get a members attention

I'd love a like or upvote feature, so I can acknowledge a good one without leaving a trail of s and s.
