Smiley Question

I really should be able to figure this out myself, but what exactly is this smiley intended to signify? I take it to be a yawn, meaning that the user finds something to be cliched or trite. However, it is designated as "lol," and seems as though there is no consistency to the way that it is utilized. Suggestions?

Thanks, so it is laughing. I suppose my question was whether or not that is how people use it, because more often than not it seems to be sarcastic.

Most people do use it for laughing, though of course there will always be some that will use it sarcastically.
