I've been getting a lot of messages today to sign in. Is this new? Don't remember it from any other day. Interference's element of surprise?

LOL no but it happens to me sometimes too. What I usually do to correct this is to clear my cookies, seems like they get corrupt sometimes. You could try that by going to Tools/Internet Options/Delete Cookies in IE. If you need help with another browser just say so.
