[U2 Beginner]

Well, I own a guitar...but I suck at it better than I can play it.

I only know 3 chords, A, D, and G. I took lessons over the summer, but haven't done much with it since.

I wish I could play...

I have a bass, I got lessons about 5 years ago, then pretty much gave it up until this year. So I'm still a total n00b, really...
I love how there's a whole range of simplicity->difficulty in U2's songs... things like WOWY for bass newbies, and always something a little bit harder to aspire to.

My instructor asked what kind of music I listened to, and I responded with "U2!" He laughed and said "U2 is a kind of music?" and I said "Of course!"
So the next time I showed up, he had the chords to One and I've been working with it for the past couple of months.

WOWY, In God's Country, Exit, NYD, Drowning Man, 4th of July, Silver & Gold, God Part II, Desire, Vertigo...
Also a few non-U2 songs; Venice Queen (Chili Peppers - only one of Flea's basslines I have any hope of learning!), Suicide Blonde (INXS), Belong (REM)...

I've just printed off a bunch more tabs though

My bass is a Yamaha... it was pretty much the cheapest one in the shop, and I haven't changed the strings in 5 years, but it works well enough!

Since this thread has been bumped up again, I thought I'd bring my question up again, since nobody answered me.

I used to play the guitar when I was a teen, and I'm determined to pick it up again. I knew most of the basic chords and hadn't quite figured out how to strum properly. Back then I was playing the piano and singing more, so that took up most of my time.

But, hopefully in the next couple of months I'll be able to start up again. I don't have my own guitar so I'll have to buy one, unless my brother decides to give me his, which he doesn't use any more. Do any of you have any suggestions for a good, decently priced acoustic? Thanks.

I'd also be interested in suggestions for an electric guitar as well. Thanks to anyone who can be of any help to me!

I have a black washburn, and I love it! I don't have an amp...yet. I'm waiting til I get some more skills before I invest. If you want a good pic of it, check out the video on my myspace page. I'm not really playing it, so it doesn't sound like that.

I play guitar too...but it's been a while since I really played. I broke a string and I'm too lazy to replace it I like to play Staring at the sun , Original of the species, Yahweh, Time of your life by Green Day and 2112 Overture and Limelight by Rush...well just the beginning. Just simple things really. I'm thinking of switching my acoustic for an electric or just keep the acoustic and by an electric. Lately I'm more into drums...I'll be having them soon!

No worries. But thanks for your response now! I had a look, and I like what yours looks like. I can't afford to buy one at the moment, but I'm keeping my eyes open for a nice guitar that I can hopefully buy sometime soon.

Are there any music shops nearby? I actually bought mine used. I got it and the case, for $300. Even though it is used, it looked as though it had barely been touched! I haven't even had to restring it. Keep looking around. I'm sure you'll find one you like.
