I know it might seem odd posting this now. But i was just chatting with my freind about u2 and he we got talking about the time when he met the band. It reminded of his amazing story and i really want to share it. Well the reason it might seem odd is because it was on the vertigo tour. But eh i only signed up at the start of the year, and only just remembered his story. It isnt really really detailed, but he told me about the events that happened.

I think it was around June 15th 2005, Manchester on the vertigo tour. My freind managed to get hold of some tickets. He wasnt a die hard fan, although he knows most of the songs, just doesnt take much time into there tours ect. Anyways he got hold of some spare tickets, from someone who worked at the city of Manchester stadium. It was his first concert, so he was of course excited. He didnt tell me much about the actually concert, apart from it being amazing. But it think it was one of the encores, not totally sure, as he has only mentioned the actual event in detail. Anyways he is a manchester utd fan, and of course with it being a manchester city stadium, he thought it was clever to have a quick laugh with some of them. Which is what die hard football fans do i guess. After thinking it was just a joke, he seen a security guard coming his way. He thought he was going to get thrown out, or going to have a quiet word, so he kept his mouth shut. The security guard guided him completely around the stadium, right backstage. At the time he didn't realise what the hell was going to happen, and didnt realise he was backstage. After a short wait, he heard some footsteps. They got closer until out of no where all 4 band members were there. He told me he was just shocked. Didnt know what to say. He told me they just got chatting and at the end bono handed him his sun glasses  They said bye and got off. Leaving my friend in complete shock and excitement. He got escorted back to the stand and realised the ticket he had what an actual backstage pass of some sort. If he was a die hard fan he would of for sure treasured the ticket, and looked at every piece of writing lol. But he just thought of it as a ticket to the gig, nothing more. Like i said, dont know the story in full detail for example what he spoke to the band with, what part of the gig he met them, or where abouts backstage. But its a truly stunning story, and of course the sunglasses are his most treasured valuable.

Cool story. Glad he was smart enough to keep the sunglasses and not auction them off or whatever. Did he become more of a U2 fan after that?
