Yeah, there are quite a few small- to mid-sized clubs, as well as a good number of Irish pubs that hire live bands.

My friend is a manager at Ireland's Four Courts, so that might be a good 'in.'

The 9:30 Club & Black Cat are mid-sized, great places. A lot of bands go there when they're on their way up (the Killers, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Rusted Root, and a bunch of others started touring there...some still do).

There are definitely more places...I just don't know them all!

Well, technically.......Once I graduate this Sunday, I'll be an MD. It's kind of funny because all my med school friends and I plan on having each other fill out our medical forms for residency after Sunday...

I don’t doubt that, I work in a doctor’s office (not medical). Who ever knew doctors play paper, scissors, rocks for patients! I’ll never look at doctors the same again.

Wahooo!! I didn't quite believe it because 2U's website said they were playing a local bar back in March, but the bar didn't have them scheduled.

However........I just called McGinty's (the Silver Spring place), and they ARE INDEED COMING! Woo-hoo!!!

I don't have any other plans for that night/weekend, so I'm pretty sure I will! I didn't see on 2U's site (notu2.com) where they're from. However, they seem to play from Mass & CT down to Maryland, so my guess is they're probably from NY or NJ. A good friend of mine has seen them down here a few years back and loved the show! Of course, no one seems to sound as close to Bono as the guy from UF..not that I've ever seen more than the video clips from their website..

That's what it says on the McGinty's site. What's weird is that all the other bands on other nights start at 10--they're the only ones that say 11. I'll call later in the day when they're open & ask.
