OK...I will try AGAIN.
Anyway, we had the most awesome trip. First we went to LA, and the weather was just divine. Around 75 degrees F. We stuffed in as much as we could, going along the Sunset Strip, the Kodak Theatre, Frederick's of Hollywood (to see lingerie exhibit), Hollywood Blvd, Mulholland drive and the Hollywood Hills, a tour of the WB studios, Venice Beach, Santa Monica pier, Manhattan Beach, the La Brea tar pits, Rodeo Drive, and of course, we met up with BAW and BAH at the aquarium! It's so nice finding friends in the middle of a place you've never been before.
Thanks for posting those pics Char, I will email you my own copies. My only regret is we did not get to go to San Diego...largely because we spent about 60% of our time in traffic!
But of course, what I was REALLY looking forward to was Vegas! First of all, that HOTEL! Our hotel room was fine, but I would have LOOOOVED to stay in that Mariott. It was gorgeous. For the "opening night gala" Guaca (the artist formerly known as Whacka) and I decided to dress up:
It was so exciting getting to meet all these interferencers, some of whom I had met before, others for the first time. I was also nervous on behalf of the band and their big debut....and I had made such a fuss about them, I hoped everyone would love them as much as I do.
I also got the pleasure of a dance lesson from Daafish and Sicy (thanks again you guys)! We found ourselves a quiet corner near the ballroom, and I got my first Salsa lesson. It was soooo much fun! Then I got to watch a live demonstration. Those two are really excellent together, they should compete!
I think the band made an admirable debut on Saturday night, despite Brady's cold, Kevin's guitar string breaking, and their getting kicked off stage early. Brady premiered his new vinyl suit! Very nice. I really wish the Saturday crowd had been there for Sunday and Monday though, they really pulled out all the stops, really feeding off the crowd's energy.
Sunday, Abel, Whacka, Icelle, Mr. Edge and I went to the Hoover Dam, and Monday, BAW, Icelle, Abel, Mr. Edge and I went up the stratosphere tower and took some great shots of Vegas.
Monday night, for the Joshua Tree set, I finally got Miss Velvet and BAW to come up to the front! EVEN ABEL came up to the front for a little while! I was blown away!
Actually the crowd on Monday night was crazy!! Singing, shouting, jumping up and down....we were actually pressed up against the edge of the stage like at a real U2 show! People kept jumping on stage (including diamond, who did his "standing on stage w. Bono pose"), and a number of girls got their paws on our Brady! "yeah baby, yeah!"
(sorry spinny! hehehe)
OK, here are some of my better pictures, in order from Saturday through Monday. I will put them up in small groups, and hopefully they won't all get deleted again. I think we all know who everyone is by now, so I'll just post them!
