It was a really fun show, aside from the 2 idiots standing next to us for a while being total jerks ( :censored: ) and some other people who should really try to make a point of not crossing the line between having fun and making a complete fool out of themselves ( :silent: ). But it was nice seeing them play in a bigger club than i'm used to.

I had a really good time in NYC. Mrs. Edge and i walked like crazy everywhere, we even walked from Penn Station to Central Park and back, which was a bit much, i must confess (blisters under my feet to prove).

Loved meeting Abby and Ewen, they are so cute together. :applaud: Didn't get a chance to talk much with the other people we met (sorry guys, can't remember the nicknames :reject: ), but maybe next time we can all get together erlier and talk. :D

Mick, it was nice "officially" meeting you too.

Great show indeed!

Great meeting Abby, Ewen, Mrs. Edge & AngelK. Got there a little after 10, but alas, we were the lucky ones to start the line-up outside....I think we were on line for a little over an hour but it was definitley worth it. Awesome show!!!

AngelK is very good people! :D

I hope we get to hang out with you Kelly and Jessica (and of course Paul too) again sooner rather than later.

Sorry we had to leave early into the gig and didn't get to say "bye" properly but as you know Abby was very tired after a week of getting up at 3.30am each day and we had that long trip back to Pennsylvania ahead of us...I think it was a little optimistic of us to think she'd be ok for the start of the gig at midnight! Poor thing, at least we'll be living in Brooklyn next week and won't have to rush off if we go to the likes of the St. Patrick's Day get-together.

Hi Zootlesque & Cruzila.

Cruzila and Zootlesque, I'm so sorry we didn't have longer to talk, but it was a pleasure meeting you!

Same w. you Headache, I never seem to get to talk to you! :(

Abby & Ewen, I'm soooo glad you were able to make it, even for a short time. It was great seeing you again.

If you can believe it, the only pics I took the entire weekend were one of Abby & Ewen, and two of a potbellied pig eating a pumpkin!

:lmao:

It was quite a weekend. A little TOO tiring unfortunately. I had been planning on taking a 7:30am bus so I could arrive by noon and have a good half day to run around NYC.

Unfortunately the bus people insist on having you arrive an hour early, and the subway doesn't open in DC on the weekend until 7! :grumpy: So I had to stay in a hotel the night before so I could catch my bus. It was a GREAT hotel, but unfortunately I couldn't have their lovely breakfast because I had to catch my bus!

So....I got to the bus station, thinking I'd have a great strong coffee, maybe a latte or something. HAHAHAHA!!!! NO WAY. I got some weak dishwater coffee with powdered creamer. :yuck: I should have known better.

So, I sit down to wait for my bus.....for an hour......and it turns out they decided they weren't going to have my bus at all! No explanation. After getting loaded onto an 8:00 bus, then off and onto another bus that left at 8:15, we were finally on our way.

I met the smiling and happy Kelly at 1pmish. We checked in and decided to go out for a great NY lunch in a cool deli somewhere. Nuh uhhhhh. It was POURING and we had no umbrella. So, we had lunch in the hotel restaurant....$17 for a club sandwich, and if you wanted fries with that it would be $3.30 extra!!!!! I am sorry, but that is OUTRAGEOUS!!!! The waitress just laughed.

So we eat our lunch and go for a looooooooooong walk. By this time the rain had cleared. We spent the day wandering up 5th Ave. We figured since we only had a few hours, we wouldn't go to a museum because we would want to spend more time. So, we went to the central pk zoo instead.

We had a great time at the zoo, they had some nice animals, but we spent most of our time staring at the pigs and the cow!! Imagine, going all the way to NYC to look at a cow!!!

By the time we walked all the way back again (from 33rd/8th to 67th/5th & back) we were dog tired and had a nap.

We got up just in time to get ready to meet Abby & Ewen. We had a wonderful time catching up with them. The people at Lucille's gave us a blue ticket which would allow us into BB King's. The doors were supposed to open at 11, and the band start at 11:30. No problem. They start lining us up and we wait...and wait.......

Now this is entirely MY fault, but I decided to wear boots with heels. BIG MISTAKE. After pounding the pavement all day, these shoes (which have no padding/shock absorption) were KILLING my feet. So standing and waiting was really agonizing.

Finally at around 11:45 they let us in. The front row is already taken up by UF's considerable contingent of male fans. We take our place in the 2nd row. By the time the band takes the stage some time after 12, I am half dead on my feet.

Anyway, some of you know I am the belly dancer in Elevation Canada. I have seen a variety of U2 tributes in my time, but never UF so I was very curious. I think they put on an excellent show. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if:

a) my feet weren't throbbing and burning
b) if I'd had more sleep
c) if I'd had a couple of drinks - I didn't dare leave my spot to get a drink for fear of losing it to one of the VERY enthused male fans, a couple of whom were quite drunk and kept shoving us out of the way which was very annoying.

But as I said, it was a great show. I particularly enjoyed Mick the guitarist. :sexywink:

The whole band are excellent musicians and although I am tired of the greatest hits, I know all tributes have to play them. I LOVED Unforgettable Fire, One Tree Hill, Party Girl (I forget what the snippet at the end was, but it fit very well), Bad and ESPECIALLY When Love Comes to Town with the guest from BB King's. That was fantastic.

The only thing about the show that I really didn't care for was MW, and that is no fault of the band's.

I think it's great to have a bunch of girls on stage, having fun, being sensual etc. But some of the girls were literally turning into a porn star competition. It was WAY over the top, and quite cringe-worthy. Maybe too much alcohol was involved, who knows...but all the crotch stroking, gyrating and attempts to hump the band were really off putting to me.

But like I said, I had sore feet so my patience was tested to the max.

Next time guys, if you'd like a guest belly dancer, I'd be happy to oblige. :)

So again, great show guys, please consider playing in DC!!! I'm sure you'd sell out.

So after the show, Kelly and I hobbled home, and crashed into bed. I got on my bus (which left on time but got home late due to being snarled in traffic). Needless to say, I went to bed early last night!

Thanks for a great weekend, everyone!

Yea BBs is a bit out of the norm for us. We are at there will. The previous band played till 10:30 and it was a mad scene trying to get in there, setup in time. I feel bad they leave people outside like that and herd people like cattle. Last St Pats day I went outside to make a phone call and they wouldnt let me back in :)

Angel and Mrs Edge If you can shoot me a mail next time..maybe at Toads in CT or somewhere closer to you, I will make sure to get you guys in. Just let me know. As for Myst ways yea Anna usually comes on stage . Shes really good and very nice. This time around it was mayhem. I just kept playing my guitar :) ( at least we didnt have any male belly dancers. I think Headache wanted to jump up there) yikes!

Thanks for coming out and supporting us. It means alot.

Mick

I guess that's just the way BB King do things, no big deal, we were just extra tired from all the walking. I never had any problems getting in anywhere else and most of the times i saw you guys at Temple Bar i walked right in (if there was a line it was only because the place was full to it's capacity and they needed to wait for some people to come out to let more in). :D

There used to be some videos from a BB King show on the UF site and in one of them we could see the belly dancer, she did dance pretty well!! You guys should put those videos back up, they were pretty good.

After our meal and my one $7 beer at Lucille's...

It was great being in the company of three beautiful women!

Aye, I know, my camera is majorly shite...I wake up each and every day pining for the return of my Nikon SLR.

eek Jessica, regarding your picture of Abby and myself, wish somebody had warned me about my hat hair! Of course Abby is as gorgeous as ever though.

That's too bad you couldn't make it to the show, but thank you so much for the tip about going to Lucille's before the show. That was a real life saver!!

Hi AngelK.

You may remember on Saturday night Abby mentioning briefly a new U2 book, U2 and Philosophy, that she helped write (she co-wrote a chapter)? It's been in the works for a while and publication was delayed until U2 approved the inclussion of their lyrics (and therefore approving the book I guess). Well, yesterday we received ten copies of it and she's going to send one each to a few 'interferancers' such as Mrs Edge, LMPA, Zoney and U2democrat and yourself if you want one.

The book...

I can't send you a private message since you don't have premium membership & I don't have your email address. I also cannot leave an entry in your journal because (for reasons that only Sicy & her posse know) I was banned from contributing to journals. Anyway, Mrs Edge has my email address.

BB's setlists do tend to be more on the "safe" side...

Believe me, I keep buggin' them about the State Theater in Falls Church, VA. Lots of tribute bands play there.

And if you're anywhere near Bethesda there's a great bus service from there on Saturday mornings right next to a free parking garage -- Vamoose Bus

And I second everyone else's comments -- The show was great (but the $8 beers not so much...But then I guess I didn't HAVE to drink that much!) :D

Not sure if the offer is still available. I will give you guys a call (as long as Abby's cell hasn't changed)!

Congrats!
