I've said this many times before but make sure that you don't force U2 upon your friends. It's not the wisest thing to do, trust me.

Well rap music (as a section of hip-hop) has always been on the steady incline. I feel it's about to break out and go really mainstream. You can already see it happening through big hip-hop/rap influences in Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Drake.

I'm really not too pleased with the direction rock music has been taking. So much of it sounds so fake nowadays. Take a look at The Script for example. Dont get me wrong, I somewhat enjoy some of their music... but it sounds incredibly fake and unenjoyable at times.

The Script is not "rock", though.

Sure they are...

they're Pop Rock (which I brought this up in another thread) is not to be confused with mainstream rock.

It just so happens that Pop Rock at the time in the form of The Script is the popular form of rock at the moment. But it's not only The Script, you can see it in plenty of the new artists. And dont get me started on the post-grunge garbage like The Dave Mathews Band, David Cook, and Lifehouse. Ugh, talk about douchebags with a guitar (excuse me if anybody is a fan).

What is this Dave Matthews Band you speak of? I've never heard a song by them but they appear to be massive in the US. What's the deal with that?

Speaking of post-grunge surely there isn't anything worse than Nickelback and Creed? Surely?

I think Creed is just a misunderstood band. I enjoy them, actually. (well, they are no longer).

And if you think Nickelback is bad (I know where you're coming from)... David Cook, Dave Mathews, and Lifehouse are all 10x worse. You'll enjoy Nickelback after listening to them.

Nickelback isnt good, but you dont finish a song thinking "god damn it... douchebag with an acoustic guitar".

I just hate it that my friends call U2 sell outs and then go and listen to Kings Of Leon, Coldplay... Not hating on those bands but what's the difference? And yeah, most of time their favourite song is Vertigo. But I almost never mention U2 when I'm with them because the reactions aren't good.
It could be worse though. They hate Radiohead more.

Lol my friends love Radiohead. They're all semi-hipsters minus the hipster look...

If it's 'mainstream' it's automatically bad. Such a hilarious way to go about music. Don't fight the feeling to fit an image, ya know? (not saying they secretly like U2, but they certainly secretly like other music that's 'mainstream' and they're afraid to admit it)
