three days and counting..and we're outta here!

I'm not even supposed to be letting the cat out of the bag on Halifax...but suffice it to say that the students there are going to be like..."what the...!" when they see what their student union has cooked up for them...;)

We'll be leaving Wednesday and playing Dalhousie on Thursday night and then booting it back to Lennoxville to do Bishop's on Friday nite - apparently at Bishop's they party till 3am as thats when alcohol is served until - WOO HOO!! :D:D

HEY - some new stuff on the OCTOBER SITE, new video and also a new section called the "BAND FORUM" which is basically a blog that all of us in the band will contribute to - pretty much on a show by show basis - or in my case, as a truly addicted internet nerd, daily basis - with wacky pics etc etc...the best part is, visitors (THIS MEANS YOU :)) to the site can feel free to leave their comments on shows and/or the site (BE NICE ) - we'll also try and put up soundbites from shows and maybe the odd video clip if they're funny enough - like me screwing up lyrics, falling off tables or speakers a la Bono etc :D:D

So now, if we can't see you at a show, we can always see you online :)

Slainte!

I go to Dalhousie...it was amazing! You guys are awesome, have everything down pat.

I was the dude at the very front who was singing the words to every single song...I think I was the only person there who knew the words to 11 O'Clock Tick Tock and Out of Control :D

Anyways it was a complete surprise...everyone knew there was a "mystery band" playing, right after casino night. We all thought it was Finger Eleven, because they're playing at a university on the other side of the city tomorrow night. So after casino night, everyone's standing around and all of a sudden the curtain opens and I hear the first keyboard notes of Streets. My initial reaction was "what the...?"

Then I realized what was going on and I was pumped, I flew up to the front of the stage and started singing my arse off.

A lot of people left (idiots) because I guess they either didn't like the idea of a U2 tribute band or maybe they just wanted to go get drunk. Their loss.

Anyways, the show was amazing! There were only about 30-50 people who actually stayed, and I was right at the front at the bottom of the stairs, singing and clapping. Gabriel played the part of Bono perfectly, even to the point of hitting on the girls at the front. :)

I was trying to get you to play The Fly...it didn't work, but it was still incredible!

The best part of the show for me was during the very last song, Even Better Than The Real Thing. I had been belting out the words to everything for the whole show (knew every lyric too! Can't stump me! :D) as loud as I possibly could, then Gabriel looks down and sees me more or less screaming out EBTTRT, points right at me and gives me a thumbs up. That was awesome acknowledgement and made me proud to be a U2 fan.

If you read this, thank you so much. Anytime you ever come back to the east coast, I'll be there, at the front of the stage, belting out every lyric to every song. :)

Thanks again and be sure to let me know when you swing back this way.

Congratulations to Gabriel and October for what sounds like a great performance! I saw them a short while back and knew you guys were in for a treat when the show was announced.

Dave, I hadn't intended to post about this here and I hate to hijack October's thread even slightly but since you are in Halifax and a U2 fan you may be interested to know that Elevation Canada (I'm the bass player by the way) will be in Halifax on Saturday 18 September at the Pogue Fado Irish Pub... More details at www.u2tributeband.com... OK, back to October now. Sorry Gabe. :)

I'd love to go, but the Pogue is a bar, and I'm about 4 months away from being of legal age.

I'll see what I can scam up though by way of an ID.

hey!

YOU are DaveC???? :D

Dave it was great to meet you that night, and glad you enjoyed the show...I know we had a ton of fun up there!

It was a very exhilerating experience to walk out on that stage and see 300+ people waiting anxiously for the 'mystery band' - and I have to give them alot of credit, when I walked out (the band was already doing the Streets intro), I barely had to raise my hands and you guys went WILD!!!

According to the organizers the exodus of the crowd was pretty much guaranteed if the band WASNT Finger Eleven, because someone from student council had started that rumour and so alot of the students - all Frosh as well - were really only there for the 'mystery band' - but apparently we held about 200 of you until One, then people trickled out till by the end the official final count was 70 of you die hard faithfuls left - but I'm telling you, it was just as great to rock you guys pressed up against the stage at the end as it was the larger crowd at the beginning! :D

Ending with Even Better - well that was a funny story - they asked us to keep playing and then asked us to stop because they were late for the next scheduled event and didn't realize the time :S - ah well, alot of fun anyhoo!

We'll be back out Dave and we can't wait to see you again - next time it will be an advertised event with the entire school invited so you know you'll only be surrounded by U2 fans expecting a U2 show! :D

PS - maybe you should switch schools to Bishop's in Lennoxville - the next night - WOW - well I'll wait for someone else to post that tale ;) ;) :D

PS MICK!!

Hey no prob - you'll have a blast in Halifax its a very nice place to play, VERY appreciative people - we had a chance to pop into the Pogue and it is a nice warm intimate venue so it'll be great for sure!

Make sure you try and find the street busker we did an impromptu performance of ONE with :D

OH! And breakfast - one word - CORA's - breakfast to die for! :D

Cora's does have an amazing breakfast. Make sure to try the strawberry crepes.

So what happened at Bishops??? I want to hear the story! :hyper:

Well I'll post up the details and pics on our Band Forum page, but I will say that with the proper promotion, things went well! The people that were there were U2 fans who wanted to hear U2! :D

I think the numbers were tallied at somewhere around 250-300, but with a smaller room it sure felt like a rammed event! You know its packed when you can crowd surf - and I did - not intentionally...I actually started to fall...I see all these hands come up and I thought they were going to push me back onto the stage..next thing I knew I was being transported across the top of the audience to the back of the room...and they didn't put me down until I asked a few times...waaay too much fun!! :)

G

PS - Im actually going through the audio we got from both gigs right now - I think I can hear your voice Dave! ;) :D
