Just for comparison sake I picked a random date and got the readings from the past three years. Average temperature records for China Lake (which is south of Olancha and South-West of Death Valley)
September 20, 2009 82?F
September 20, 2008 78?F
September 20, 2007 61?F

The overall average of the area is actually 90?F
