Other fandoms with English characters or settings have a process called Britpicking- you get a beta reader who is from there, who can recognize your American phrases and replace them with a more British idiom, so the characterization is more coherent. I need an Irish-picker! I hate feeling like, "wait a minute, I know they don't call it a countertop in England, it's a worktop there, but what does Edge call it when he backs her up to it?"
