(11-30-2004) Review: U2's 'Bomb' fails to explode - CNN*

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

A critic will give a review based on the current album by comapring it to previous albums. I guess we all do that, you only have to look through this messageboard to see that.

It makes me wonder what kind of review this album would get if it was U2's first album.....if there was absolutely nothing to compare it to!

I'm not sure what this means. Sounds like generic critic-speak to me.

That is the part of the review I agree with the most. Several times the songs do let go to driving solos and bono's soaring lyrics. But most of the time the songs start building up but never actually explode.

It's a good album, I like all the songs on it...but it's definitely not their best and could be a little more energized I guess.

The review is actually well on the mark. He's saying the songs
are good and solid but they lack depth and melody as some
of their previous albums JT, Achtung baby etc.
I happen to agree with his statements for the most part.

I tend to look at the reviews with a grain of salt ,it gives me an idea but is definetly not concrete. I've been listening to the new cd since it came out and it definetly grows on you I do not know if these reviewers listen to the cd 10 times or only once
