Bono awarded Neruda medal by Chile

Bono has been awarded the Pablo Neruda Medal of Honour by the Chilean government in recognition of his contribution to music and to humanitarian causes.

The distinction has been awarded to 100 people all over the world to mark the centenary of the birth of Pablo Neruda, Chile's most famous poet.

Bono was presented with the medal by the Chilean Ambassador to Ireland at a ceremony at the Ambassador's residence in Dublin this morning.

Bono said he was a great fan of Pablo Neruda and of Chile and he was honoured to receive the award.
