Soundalikes Star in Season Opener

It's certain to be a beautiful day for fans of Irish rockers U2 when one of the country's top tribute bands hit town.

U2UK have been on the scene since 2002, recreating the live U2 experience at gigs and festivals.

The band don't just sound like U2 – they look like them too, so much so that after one festival people were queuing up to get autographs of who they thought were really Bono and The Edge!
Lead singer Paul (Bono) was a finalist on TV's Stars in their Eyes in 2002 singing Beautiful Day and has been entertaining audiences ever since with everything from early U2 songs – Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride, Out of Control – through With Or Without You and Streets up to all the latest offerings.

U2UK, who claim to be about as close to the real thing as you can get without forking out more than £80 a ticket, will kick off the autumn season at Blackfriars Arts Centre on Friday, September 1, at 7.30pm. Seats are priced £9 (concessions £8).

Music from a quite different era comes to Blackfriars on Saturday, September 2, with Olde Tyme Music Hall.

Boston's own Marilyn Cobb and Trevor Fenton will lead an evening of songs, comic items and a good old-fashioned 'knees-up' to finish. Tickets cost £10 (concessions £9) from the theatre on 01205 363108.
