U2 in Space

The music of U2 played a part in the recently completed space shuttle mission with shuttle pilot Mark Kelly choosing one of the band's songs for the mission's soundtrack. According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Kelly chose "Beautiful Day" to play on day 12 of the mission as the shuttle steered away from the International Space Station.

Other songs that played during the mission were, according to the News-Journal, Elton John's "Daniel" and ABBA's "I Had a Dream."

Thats 2 songs for U2 in two years.

Vertigo was a wake up call on flight day 4 on the last shuttle flight in July of '05.
********
July '06

The crew awoke to a recording of U2's ``Beautiful Day,'' in honor of pilot Mark Kelly, who will maneuver Discovery away from the space station during undocking. Kelly jokingly complained that Mission Control didn't play the U2 song as long as the Aggie fight
song". (aggie fight song is Texas [USA] football thing)
