Bono Spots Shoddy Signing

Next time you decide to buy a “signed” copy of a record on the internet, think again. A prized, autographed copy of a U2 record, which was hanging in the offices of Time magazine, was proved to be a fake – by Bono himself.

Sunglasses-clad Bono was dining with bosses at the mag when he spotted the record. It took just a second for Bono to deem the signature counterfeit “unless The Edge faked my autograph”.

A red-faced staffer then admitted he bought the offending item on the internet. But Bono did the decent thing, signing and dating the album cover, adding: “Even Better Than the Real Thing”, the title of a U2 hit.

I have a few "signed" items I have purchased over he years, and always wondered if they were authentic. Some look very real, and others...questionable. but then, I've seen questionable ones that were indeed "the real thing".

I wonder if the staffer got it off eBay. He should leave that person bad feedback saying "IT WAS A FAKE BECAUSE BONO SAID SO!"
