U2 Contributing to Curtis Biopic Soundtrack

On his 2FM radio show today, Dave Fanning announced that U2 is contributing a song to the soundtrack of the forthcoming Anton Corbijn-directed Ian Curtis biopic. Two soundtracks are being released for the movie, one made up of Joy Division originals and the other of Joy Division covers by bands including U2, The Doves and Marilyn Manson. Fanning didn't announce what song U2 would be covering for the soundtrack.

U2 shares many connections to the late singer, including working with Joy Division producer Martin Hannett on its first release, "U2 3," and writing the song "A Day Without Me" in response to Curtis' suicide at the age of 23.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Curtis' death.
