On the Death of John Paul II

Bono has spoken of the passing today of Pope John Paul II.

"The best front man the Catholic Church ever had. A great show man, a great communicator of ideas even if you didn't agree with all of them, a great friend to the world’s poor which is how I got to meet him. Without John Paul II its hard to imagine the Drop the Debt campaign succeeding as it did."

a great front man, a man sent by God to give us a message of love, unity, peace and freedom.
May he be an example for us all.
John Paul's love for children, teenagers, all human beings, was just incredible.

Tv broadcasts here in Italy are keeping on passing the images of the Pope with kids, but also with boys and girls -- and it's just so tender and so moving. Media are also remembering the ways John Paul II used to get in touch with young people -- including the meeting with Bono. It's so touching to see them together, and hear Bono who told him "You're a great showman" before lending his glasses to the old pope...

An interesting character was the Pope.

Indeed, he did want world peace and did have concern for Africa.

Still, he did have a disgraceful stance against contraception and abortion though. He was not that fond of gays either.
