U2.com Takes Off

Two months from launch and the all-new U2.Com has eclipsed the popularity of its predecessor site.

Even before the announcement of U2's 2005 Tour, when traffic to U2.Com hits
its traditional peak, the site is now attracting in excess of a million page requests a day - and over 100,000 unique visitors per day.

And the new U2.Com Membership area, which has taken on the mantle of the
band's long-running Propaganda Magazine, has also got off to a flying start,
outstripping all previous subscription numbers.

For fans who are not 100% sure about the distinction between the two services offered by the new U2.Com - here's the deal.
U2.Com continues to offer all fans free and complete access to the latest news stories, video clips and band performances. On top of this you can listen to audio clips of tracks from U2's back-catalogue of singles and albums, check the encyclopaedic Discography, Gallery and Lyrics pages and watch in amazement in our archive video at mullets from days of yore!

As previously on U2.Com, this is all free, along with the General Discussion boards in Zootopia, our interactive fan forum. And if you sign up to our free e-mail update service, we will also keep you posted with the the latest news from the band and the site.

But while the free U2.Com service offers the same service as before, the big new development has been the introduction of a paid-for U2.Com Members
area. This aims to provide a range of special benefits for fans, along the lines of the service that 'Propaganda Magazine' offered for 20 years - but this time without the lengthy publication lags!

Members get their own '@U2.Com' e-mail address, can stream full-length videos and also qualify for a big discount on the U2.Com Shop.

You can check out the Benefits of U2.Com Membership here - and it's no secret that the topical one right now is that paid-up Members are able to take advantage of a pre-sale window in which to buy their tickets for the 2005 Tour... when it's announced. (Not long now, hint, hint!)

We hope you like the way that U2.Com is developing - we think it knocks spots off any other band sites (But then we would say that, wouldn't we?!)

Wow, what happened; did U2.com decide to hire some people. There hasn't been this much news coming out of there since.....well never.

Either that or Sebastian Clayton didn't like what happened earlier this week.:|

I'd say the "U2.CON" article got under the skin of more than a few folks within U2 management, and for good reason...
