Hi there.

I'll admit I'm not a big fan of U2 but thought I'd pop in and show you what made the news here in Cork Ireland yesterday (1st April 09)

Big rumours were spread of an event happening somewhere in Cork and on Wednesday morning it was revealed that U2 were playing a secret gig from the roof of Blackpool Shopping Centre in Cork right outside where I work!

When 'Bono' first spoke I thought his voice was a bit high, not quite right but put it down to the radio volume. I drove to the roof of the nearby multi-story carpark overlooking the stage, and took a few pictures and videos. (http://corkant.multiply.com/video)

The sound was brilliant and the limo and emergency services convinced me that it was possibly the real thing, but when I zoomed in on the band I thought Bone has his hat to far down on his head therefore hiding some features, The Edge did look like the Edge and kept me in the zone, but Adam was the giveaway that it was a wind-up. I couldn’t see Larry.

This was an amazing prank featuring a tribute band called U2opia and it featured on all national news channels in Ireland! Take a look and see if you would have been fooled?

Regardless of the fact that it was a prank, I was delighted to have been there - a great start to the morning!

Thanks for the welcome and comments. The prank was great fun and people are still buzzing from it. A few people are still convinced they were the real thing, although photos in the newspapers prove that the lead singer doesn't really look at all like Bono close up.

Great publicity for everyone really although I would imagine U2 don't actually need any at all to sell tickets!
