Hello,

Last week HTDAAB had a big drop in the Dutch charts as it slid down 14 positions to #48. This was also its lowest position on the charts yet. I'm happy to report that it might have been a fluke, as this week the album jumps up those 14 positions again and is again at #34.
So here's the full chart run for How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (27-11-2004):
1-1-2-3-4-4-5-6-7-8
6-1-1-3-6-4-8-10-11-14
17-17-24-28-23-30-32-38-34-28
16-14-9-5-4-6-8-11-14-20
21-27-34-48-34

Surprisingly, I also saw the singles chart (the Mega Top 50) and saw that All Because Of You was already charting! This is very strange, because the single isn't out yet and I always thought that this chart was based on sales (or that a single at the very least had to be available commercially to chart). For a moment I thought that it may had to do with the Download Top 50 that just started this past week, but the song isn't on that one (but some more suprising news about that chart in a minute). Anyway, here's the chart run for All Because Of You (24-9-2005)
47-33

As I wrote just a little above, the Download Top 50 also shows something surprising. All Because Of You isn't charting on that one. But With Or Without You is! It's at #32, above Fix You by Coldplay or Push The Button by the Sugababes (but 2 positions below that Crazy Frog song).

Well done, that's a great thing for Netherland!
Unfortunately, in Ireland bomb is out of top 75.

Great newsfor the netherlands. Has the #14 places jump to do with all because of you release? I 'haven't got another reason. I think mega top 50 is now sales + airplay too, the only difference with the top 40 are the percentages of the sales/airplay, mega top 50 is more towards sales and top40 more towards airplay.

BTW martijn, where do you get the dutch charts from? I get it from megacharts.nl or top40web.nl

So are we done with singles in the U.S? I see Europe got ABOY, but nothing was released for the U.S.

It's too late to release a single and have it nominated for the Grammys, so if OOS is the next single it'll have to wait till the 2007 Grammy awards.

My only guess is they're letting ABOY run it's course, and when it fizzles, OOS will be released to the world.

With the way Interscope and/or U2 management have gone about the singles and the promotion, a guess is all I can come up with.

Great result from Holland but sadly not so good in UK as ABOY slips 12 spots to # 48 on the top 50 airplay chart & 3 spots to # 14 on TV airplay chart.

So let's just get it to # 1 on sales next week!!

That is pretty shocking. If it's not getting any airplay, then the album will receive no boost on the charts. It should be in the top 20 airplay at this stage.

Any reason for the lack of airplay compared to the other 3 singles?

I expect a walk on type performance on the charts. Great first week, maybe #3, then a huge drop out of the top 20's, and then a bigger drop out of the top 40. I hope I'm wrong, but then again it is a 4th single and at this stage, most people interested in buying it already have the album.

France: HTDAAB 113 (105)

Italy: HTDAAB 47 (41)

This is the complete italian chart run for the bomb:
1-1-4-5-5-6-3-3-4-8-
6-10-9-8-8-9-15-14-21-17-
16-17-17-26-33-33-44-42-41-39-
41-33-29-17-10-10-18-22-14-22-
21-37-41-47

Do u think that the special tv on Nbc cult show with a live performance ( i hope at least 2 tracks about the bomb...) could help a re-enter of the album in BB TOP 200?

I think it might just do the trick, although an earlier show in the evening with a larger audience might be better.

U2 are on the frontpage of Billboard.com

Sadly, the album is still out of the B200 this week.

No, but at least U2 are on the frontpage of Billboard.com:

U2 Leads Billboard Touring Awards Finalists

By Ray Waddell, Nashville

U2's mammoth Vertigo tour is a finalist in four categories for the Billboard Touring Awards, the most of any outing this year. The outing is a finalist in the top tour, top draw and top Boxscore categories, and U2's management company Principle Management is a finalist for top manager.

The Billboard Touring Awards recognize the year’s highest achievements in the concert industry. The awards, which are based on box-office data gathered from Billboard Boxscore reports from Nov. 24, 2004, through Sept. 30, 2005, will be presented at an Oct. 26 reception at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York that wraps the second annual Roadwork conference.

Neil Diamond and Kenny Chesney are also finalists in the top tour category, which reflects gross dollars. U2, Chesney and Dave Matthews Band are finalists in the top draw category, which reflects total attendance. Chesney’s A Place in the Sun tour is also in the running for top package.

Another multiple finalist is the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn., which is among the leading performers in the top Boxscore and top festival categories.

The breakthrough act award recognizes an artist or band in its first decade that cracks the top 25 tours listings for the first time. Coldplay and Rascal Flatts fit that description this year.

Finalists in the top manager and top agency categories are based on the combined totals of all the acts they represent in the top 25 tours.

Well, here in the UK HTDAAB still hasn't re-entered the top 200... but, & would you believe it, ATYCLB DOES re-enter at # 190 :

Albums :
BO 80-90 # 176 (# 174)
ATYCLB # 190 (RE)

Singles :
Vertigo # 159 (# 145)
COBL # 199 (# 162)
