Ireland - not as good as last week :

Albums :
Bomb : # 8 (# 4)
BO 90-00 : # 26 (# 19)
BO 80-90 : # 30 (# 13)
JT : # 38 (# 12)
ATYCLB : # 59 (# 32)

Singles :
COBL : # 31 (# 17)

DVD's
U2 Go Home : #2 (#1)

In Week 26 thread Zoovation reported that it was 9xPlatinum so it's sold about 135,000 in Ireland (maybe a bit more maybe a bit less).

Maybe, but that depends - eg it might only have sold 128,000 when it was certified 9xPlatinum in which case it probably HAS sold 135,000 by now.

...actually, I would think it's probably sold about 140-145,000 by now in Ireland - that's about 5-10,000 away from 10xPlatinum.

Poland (could be last week, i'm not too sure - chart is dated 11th July) :

Bomb : # 32 (RE) - still certified Gold (20,000).
Joshua Tree : # 46 (NEW) - strange but, apparantly, an official album chart didn't start, in Poland, untill 1995.

I've just got the week 24 - week 29 chart run of Bomb from Oz (after it dropped out of top 50). If anyones got the last 4 weeks could you please post them also - thx :

w.24 : # 52
w.25 : # 54
w.26 : # 61
w.27 : # 55
w.28 : # 65
w.29 : # 69

Thx for the link Tallarico...

...well that's good for City, bad for Bomb (I really thought it would at least stay in top 30).

No not good, seems like Live8 might have actually had the opposite effect & REDUCED sales of the Bomb!!

Will be interesting to see how JT & 2 Best Of's have fared...

I should just point out that I'm not too sure about this certification 'cos I think Bomb was actually certified Platinum (100,000) in Poland ages ago. Also, I think Gold is 50,000 not 20,000.

The summer discounting / sale of other albums won't have helped but I guess that's a pretty lame excuse.

Re-Entry for COBL in the UK top 40. the first time ever for a U2 single.

Can't say im surprised at HTDAAB though, the tour effect will soon be over, and it will fall quickly now. Live 8 obviosuly didnt help much / at all!

Well, the results are in & it seems that Live8 HAS had a positive effect afterall - maybe not for Bomb but JT & BO 80-90 stay well in & Vertigo & BO 90-00 re-enter - awesome!!

Here's the full UK top 75 results :

Albums -
Bomb : # 34 (# 25)
JT : # 59 (# 56)
BO 80-90 : # 63 (# 65)
BO 90-00 : # 64 (RE)

Singles -
COBL : # 37 (# 43)
Vertigo : # 71 (RE)

DVD's -
Go Home : # 5 (# 5)
R&H : # 19 (# 19)

Airplay -
COBL : # 12 (# 9)

So, the main problem for HTDAAB seems to be that it's competing against such a vast & impressive back catalogue!

where do you find the information so quickly?

A good week after Live8, and the recent shows in the UK, but with little in the way of promotion now, I do fear Bomb won't stay around for too much longer, remember before COBL, and the tour, it fell to 72,or 73

Well, not surprisingly the London terror attacks finally caused overall album sales to dip by 1.9% - they were 7.8% higher up untill Wednesday.

Pink Floyd's DSOTM sold 9,898 copies at # 41. So HTDAAB would have sold about 11-11,500 - enough to take it's overall total to the 1,150,000 mark.

Also, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here sold 3,933 at # 65. So, JT & 2 BO's would each have sold another 4-5,000.

Thanks!
So, the bomb needs now to sell only 50.000 copies to reaches 1.200.000 copies sold in UK.
I think it will takes 15 - 20 weeks to sell it...so, before christmas time HTDAAB will have probably surpassed the 1.200.000 mark.
That's good...

Shouldnt take that long to get there... well i hope not anyway! The tour effect will be over now, but I think the next few weeks will still see sales around 7-8k so i'm guessing about 8 weeks before it hits 1,200,000. Either way by now it has definitely outsold ATYCLB which is about 1,100,000.
Should be interesting to see the French chart this week and next... and speaking of France I saw the top five albums sales for France for last week and they are lower than I expected. Number 3 sold about 11,000 and number 4 sold 10,000, which is very low for a country of 60 million people.

Actually, I expect the next three - for weeks with 7-8.000 copies each one, but the following week will have probably a decline in the number of copies sold.
Don't forget: in the last 8 weeks before arrive of Vertigo Tour in UK, there has been an average very low...about 3.500 copies/week.
So (and I hope to be wrong, obviously), I think that 8 weeks are not enough to grab 50.000 copies...

The bomb is currently #17 in the Amzon Charts of France. Last week, it wasn't even in the Top 100 altough the album was #35 in the real album charts. I think that's a good sign.

In Germany the bomb is #53 in the Amazon charts, BO 1980 is better (#50).

In Uk, the bomb is #35, JT #80.

Amazon.com Bomb-> #39

not strange at all...people seem to forget that excluding US and UK the other music markets are really poor. Usually in other countries you have at best 2 or 3 weeks of strong sales (100-50k+ copies: these are the fans) in which the album sells about 3/4 of its total copies...so charting in the top 20 of a country that's not US or UK actually means nothing: after the first 10 weeks or so 80% (or more) of album sales come from UK and US.

Amzon Charts France:

#57 Boy
#58 War

Bomb is worse than #1000.

In the other countries (UK, Germany, USA), the bomb is #30-#40.
