Week 28

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Also in Ireland :

Joshua Tree : # 44 (RE) - why only 94 weeks on chart though?
Best of 80-90 : # 65 (RE) - 215 weeks on chart

So, U2's album sales are seriously hotting up.

Some major shocking news then : "Bomb Drops To # 20 in Belgium!!"

I hope no one has a heart attack as a result.

COBL airplay in UK

COBL jumps from 18 to 7 on UK airplay Top 50. Perhaps the song can debut at #1 on the official UK singles chart next week?

GREAT news in UK this week:

Bomb #50
Best Of 1980-1990 #65
Joshua Tree #75

Awesome!!

I guess Best of 80-90 sold about 3K & JT 2,500 - impressive.

I thought there would be a few re-entry's but I wasn't so sure Bomb would re-enter the top 50 so soon. I guess Bomb must have sold over 5K. So, I reckon sales of Bomb in UK are now about 1,085,000 - that's (possibly) more than ATYCLB!!

ps - I wonder how many other U2 albums are in the top 200?

 :)

ye i think so too :(

that b*strd crazy frog will still be #1.
any1 know what its sales were this week?
i'd predict COBL to get about 30k at the most next week. with the frog sellin over 50k

also why isnt COBL in the download chart top 50?

Good news for HTDAAB though, guarenteed top 40 re-entry next week!

Re: Re: Re: COBL airplay in UK

also can some1 please post the midweek sales of COBL next week if they can. thanks

Oasis' Heathen Chemistry re-entered UK chart at # 69 with sales of 3,280 last week. This means Best of 80-90 probably sold about 3,500 - it also increased it's sales by 50%+.

JT also increases sales by 50%+ in UK : it probably sold about 2,800 copies - that's the equivalent of selling 14,000 in US!!

Norway out of Top 40 (#34)
Netherlands #38 (#32)

Are the good results from UK and Ireland enough for another week in the global Top 40? The other charts are not good.
I think it depends now on USA!

My prediction for US : #85 with 12K

I think Bomb needs to stay on as many world charts as possible to stay on Mediatraffic chart 'cos then it'll have enough points to stay on their weekly top 40 chart. Bomb will definately stay on US BB top 200 chart & therefore get the Mediatraffic points from US. The weird thing is that there's probably albums selling more than Bomb which don't make the Mediatraffic top 40 'cos they're not charting in enough countries to get the the required points to qualify.

In Italy, this week HTDAAB goes up two places from 44 to 42; SYCMIOYO goes out again of the top 50 (it was at 42)

HTDAAB chart run:
1-1-4-5-5-6-3-3-4-8-
6-10-9-8-8-9-15-14-21-17
16-17-17-26-33-33-44-42

Vertigo chart run:
1-1-1-1-6-6-7-6-2-7-
8-17-11-11-17-21-19-x-x-34-
x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

SYCMIOYO chart run:
2-4-9-18-19-25-22-16-35-29-
34-41-x-42-x

France like Italy: HTDAAB at 42 (from 45)

  Good stuff!!

...also, check out the singles chart in France :

Sometimes # 74 (71), Crazy Frog # 77!!!! - now that's funny

Europe Top 100 Albums from Billboard

HTDAAB goes from 39 to 42, which is not bad considering there are 7 new entries above it...but 12 new entries below it.

Global Charts

Mediatraffic has already updated the Global album chart, and HTDAAB rises one spot to 34 with 3 debuts ahead of it. I think that it will continue to rise due to the tour in Europe and the total number of countries it should chart in...and I think COBL will have a good debut next week on the Global singles chart.

Since COBL is being released worldwide within about a 2-3 week period, and because I think it will chart in the U.S., COBL will probably do better than Sometimes on the Global chart. Vertigo peaked at 2 and Sometimes peaked at 9, making both songs international smash hits. I would not be surprised if COBL makes it into the Top 5, and #1 is certainly possible IMO.

That's great news from Mediatraffic. I think bomb would have sold about 35K - so, my estimated sales for last 6 weeks of Bomb at MT :

7411M + 55K (w.24) + 54K (w.25) + 48K (w.26) + 40K (w.27) + 37K (w.28) 35K (w.29) = * 7680M

* the new Q magazine says HTDAAB has sold 9M & the new Mojo magazine says it's sold 10M.

UK top 200 singles chart :

Sometimes : # 115 (# 127) - 16 wks on chart
Vertigo : # 121 (# 135) - 21 wks

+ top 200 albums (Bomb : # 50, BO 80-90 : # 65, JT : # 75) :

ATYCLB : # 111 (RE) - 91 wks
Best Of 1990-2000 : 124 (RE) - 47 wks

 :)
