Bomb 16 (18)

Mike

I guess Belgium is the country where BOMB is selling the most on the planet followed by Ireland? I don't know of any other countries where the album is currently charting as high as it is in these two countries. I wonder if kicking of the European tour in Belgium has anything to do with it?

Based on chart positions Bomb is doing better in Belgium than Ireland & probably any where else in the world. But the per capita rate of people buying albums in Belgium seems to be so low that Bomb has sold maybe 40K more in Ireland (135K) than Belgium (maybe 95K) - and remember the population of Ireland is 4M, Belgium 10M. So this really is a bizarre situation. You'd expect sales of Bomb in Belgium to at least be ther same as Portugal (130K) which has the same population - maybe they are & Bomb hasn't been properly certified in Belgium....

Anyway you could be right about the reason for this : the European Leg kicking off in Belgium.

Should see a bounce back on many of the Europe charts once the tour hits full force there....look out ATYCLB....Europe is going to push the Bomb over the top sales wise!

UK - good news

#66 (#73)

 Yep, great to see Bomb rising again in UK. I reckon it sold about 3K last week - so, I estimate total sales in UK now = 1,078,000

Also : COBL rises 12 spots to # 18 on top 50 airplay chart.

The question now is, will Bomb re-enter the top 50 next week?

:)

In the Netherlands the album drops 2 spots to #32.

The total chart run of HTDAAB is:
1-1-2-3-4-4-5-6-7-8
6-1-1-3-6-4-8-10-11-14
17-17-24-28-23-30-32

Really? The German chart update is normally on Friday !?

Yes, that does seem a bit odd...maybe mosquito has supernatural powers...

...actually they've just posted the new German chart at UKMIX & this seems to be correct although I thought Coldplay's Speed Of Sound was # 1 in Germany this week (it's # 19 on this chart). So, what's goin' on?

PS : Good to see Bomb back at # 91 in Switzerland - I think it might rise on European chart this week....# 39 is my guess.

Billboards Europe Chart

BB has update the Europe Top 100 Album Chart

Despite 6 debuts ahead of it, HTDAAB rises from 42 to 39 on this week's chart. Hopefully the tour will really boost sales in Europe this summer.

Wow! Great news & my prediction was spot on (for once)! Thanx again for posting BeLIEve.

Also good that Bomb only dropped 1% in US - I think it might now rise to # 30 at Mediatraffic tomarrow : what do you reckon?

BTW : 4 new U2 entries in album chart at Woolworths (major UK high street retailer) this week : ATYCLB # 36, BO 90-2000 # 37, BO 80-90 # 38, JT # 39, Bomb # 73 (strange). In WHsmith (other major UK high street retailer) I think they are #'s 60 - #63. So, things seem to be really taking off in UK. Don't be surprised if they all re-enter the official album chart next week.

Hey fitz, I think you missed the previous post from mikeuk : # 35 at Mediatraffic.

...anyway, I estimate Bomb would have sold about 37K at Mediatraffic this week. So, my estimated sales for last 5 weeks of Bomb at MT :

7411M + 55K (w.24) + 54K (w.25) + 48K (w.26) + 40K (w.27) + 37K (w.28) = * 7645M

* the new Q magazine says HTDAAB has sold 9M & the new Mojo magazine says it's sold 10M.

Yes, this was my mistake. I thought the chart position from mikeuk was also an estimation. The chart update from mediatraffic was earlier than in the past!

Btw, Maroon 5 is now certificated with 4xplatinum, so they sold at least 218 k in the last 5 weeks (all-time-chart 7,782,000). And in this time the Bomb chart position was always higher than the from Maroon 5!

Yeah, but, from that all-time chart, Bomb has still got to sell another 589K to get to 4xPlat (8M).

BTW : The Joshua Tree re-entered the UK album chart last week at # 174 (307 weeks on top 200 chart). I guess it would have sold about 1000 - 1500 copies.

Pretty cool.
