:hmm:

That's strange, I thought NLOTH was on top of this list...no? Any chanes of NLOTH catching The Fame?

It's in the lead as far as albums released in 2009 though, right?

The Fame has been outselling No Line 2x or 3x each week (exept for the release weeks of No Line of course). It's getting a little bit better for No Line in the last couple of weeks but catching up won't happen any time soon.

Although The Fame has been released in 2008, ot didn't catch any fire untill week 2 of 2009.

Highly unlikely that NLOTH will catch The Fame. But, NLOTH is the best selling album this year that was released in 2009, and will likely remain so at the end of the year.

UK albums this week :

~6.8k for No Line @ #28 (~350k total)
~4.5k for 18 Singles @ #38 (~882k total)
~2.5k for TJT re-issue @ #67 (~2.765m total, & certified Silver for 60k though actually sold ~85k so really should be Gold for 100k)
~1k for R&H @ #195 (~1.435m total)
AB dropped out having had the huge run of 186-180-x
Their whole catalogue though usually dies far far better than this when they tour (like TJT at least 7 wks in top 75).

& on singles :

126 (124) WOWY
176 (130) CRAZY

looks like thriller will overtake NLOTHin this years sales in about 2-3 weeks. looks almost certain to be the years biggest seller, infront of lady gaga also. Im surprised to see it still selling so strongly considering its starting to fall in the US now. It took a 11% drop in the US, and also fell to 31 from 23, in the UK, yet its sales on MT were only down by 4,000 copies.

KOL will also outsell NLOTH this year, the albums really taking off the the states at the moment, I wouldn't bet against it hitting the top spot some time in the next 6months.

Another strange one is greenday, a 3,000 drop on MT, yet down 9% in US and down 9 spots in the UK chart. a similar storey for Eminem.

they appear to be taking bigger drops than U2 in the main markets, yet global sales IMO arent reflecting this.

however it was a strong week on MT, with many new entries, so hopefully NLOTH can rise a few places next week even if sales are down.

falling now yes but actually only down 1 spot from #12 to #13 on Euro top 100 albums :

15-1-1-1-1-1-1-2 (1m IFPI- Q1 '09)-3-4-5-5-6-10-11-15-17-18-20-15-12-11-14-8-8-12-13 (27 wks)

27 straight weeks in top 20 now, makes it 3rd equal with HTDAAB for albums with most weeks in top 20 on this chart since 1987 :

1. TJT - 42
2. ATYCLB - 28
3= HTDAAB - 27
3= NLOTH - 27
4. Pop - 25
5. AB - 23
6. R&H - 20
7. Best of 80's - 19 (b-sides version - 17)
8. Zooropa - 15
9. Best of 90's - 13 (maybe 14)
10. 18 Singles - 12

If Thriller maintained its sales from this week for the next 3 weeks, it will still not be at 3 million yet and would still be several hundred thousand copies short of NLOTH. Thriller is still dropping in sales, although not by nearly as much as it was a few weeks ago. It could become the biggest selling album of the year provided its sales soon stabiliize or they bump up for the Christmas season.

KOL will also outsell NLOTH this year,

Its possible, but not a certainty, especially considering there are only 16 weeks left in the year.

nloth n.36 this week on musiccharts with 28.600 copies sold.
so far have sold 3.723.800 copies worldwide.

:huh:strange how all these weeks musiccharts has had sales nearly double mediatraffic, and now NLOTH sales are down to MT levels
