Not quite. Actually if mediatraffic results are corrected allowing extrapolation, the agreement between both charts is striking.

No1 selling album in the world though for 2009!

I expected more of an increase this week, Dylan went back into the top 50, still it's decent enough

Actually, more like 8000 copies, and it's week 16. But really, the chart run isn't that different from past U2 albums - like "Pop". And since we are all hoping that NLOTH at least has "Pop" like sales numbers, this is a good comparison.

NLOTH has the following run in its first 16 weeks:

1-3-2-6-12-14-16-22-34-36
43-55-58-69-66-63

"Pop" had the following run in its first 20 weeks:

1-2-8-12-14-13-13-15-15-18
20-29-33-42-49-56-68-89-96-101

The two albums had a similar start. While "Pop" spent more time in the Top 20 (11 weeks) and even Top 50 (15 weeks) than NLOTH has, once "Pop" started to fall, it fell fast and hard. By week 20, "Pop" was already out of the Top 100.

"Pop" was #56 in its 16th week, while NLOTH is #63 - so both are still close. NLOTH's true chart success will be determined in the coming weeks.

The album seems to have leveled a bit the past few weeks. The start of the tour combined with the odd endurance of "Magnificent" (the single that's never heard is actually gaining notice on the few stations that do play it and because of the CD remix single) and the fact that this album is rather good ("Pop" seemed to alienate many) might allow the album to continue lingering in the Top 100. If it remains in the 60's to 70's, it could see sales of 5-8K each week. Those do slowly add up.

Still, I wish the album had a flat out hit. I see Kings of Leon's album up high. Even though they haven't had a super big Hot 100 hit, their success on alternative radio has kept the album going strong. I'd love to see this for NLOTH. It deserves it.

They got to number 19 on billboard with their second single as well as number one on Modern Rock

How long did it linger in the Top 20? Was it a peak due to downloads and a rapid fall, or did it slowly climb, linger then decline?

I'm guessing the second as the album is still doing well.

I'm guessing you are referring to Magnificent's chart performance in Ireland, right? If so, do you think it still has a chance to eclipse it's previous peak of #19 on the Top 100 chart?

We were refering to Kings of Leon's latest single's performance and how it's keeping their album at the top of the billboard charts despite being out for a year

I think the combination of extra father's day sales last week and the likely flood of Michael Jackson albums into the top 100 Uk albums this week could see a big drop in the UK this week, maybe even push NLOTH out of the top 100.

I think overall it's looking relatively healthy though, could hit 4,000,000 by the year's end.
