Music club sales

I saw a post on the newsgroups about the top 100 sellers of the BMG Music Club. U2 was on that list at #73 with The Joshua Tree. According to article BMG Music Club sold 779,000 copies of that album in the 14 years of its existance (of BMG Music Club, not The Joshua Tree as that album is already 16 years old!).
Anyway, since music club sales are not monitored by SoundScan it is a nice update and indication of sales of U2 records through 'other' channels.

BTW, Shania Twain's Come On Over was the top seller with 1,99 million copies while Michael Jackson's Dangerous was #100 with 298,000 copies.

C ya!

P.S. I don't know if these sales have already been incorporated in RIAA's numbers.
P.P.S. For those interested, here is the link to the article:

This is very interesting and certainly does help to explain a lot of the differences between Soundscan numbers and RIAA numbers. RIAA is everything that leaves the factory. Soundscan is everything that leaves a retail store. The Soundscan numbers leave out record club sales. Thanks for posting the list!
