Hopefully it can take home enough to give it a boost, what are your predictions if it walks away with the top prize?

I remember back in 2002, the week after the grammys, ATYCLB went up all the way to number 11 despite not being able to get the album of the year award. It got record of the year for Walk on though.

If U2 walk away with best album I reckon it´s possible for the bomb to sell as much as 100,000 copies the week after.

Let's hope so, I know a lot of people on here won't agree with me, but it's their best since AB and deserves to sell a hell of a lot more than it has (especially after 860,000 were sold in week 1)

As to nathan, I know it's been certified triple platinum but I don't know how far beyond 3 million it's sold in the US, it's nearing 10 million worldwide.

HTDAAB is getting close to 3.1 million in the USA now and is around 9.2 million worldwide.

Right now though, HTDAAB is not on the USA Billboard 200. We'll find out Wendsday before the awards if it recharted or not. The effects of the awards will not be felt until the following week though.

True, hopefully the nominees album helped it get back into the 200 this past week, and any wins will help it from there, and hopefully older albums as well. The "One" duet could boost sales of Achtung Baby.

if it gets album of the year, (and some of the other awards) i think definately top 10 is possible. though the grammys are midweek, so sales will be split over 2 weeks?

Usually big winners at the Grammys benefit for at least a few weeks after the show, some stay on a lot longer.

Just a slight correction...

ATYCLB was released in 2000, but "Beautiful Day" was the only song that was released in time for the 2001 Grammy awards. When U2 won all three awards for "Beautiful Day" (including the two big ones: Song of the Year and Record of the Year), ATYCLB bounced back up to #11.

ATYCLB, the album (and all subsequent singles released), was eligible for the 2002 Grammy awards. Although the album missed out on Album of the Year (inexplicably so - the album that beat it is horrendous, IMO), U2's performance at the Super Bowl just weeks prior coupled with the tremendous exposure they received at the Grammy ceremonies (including a performance and a key win - back to back Record of the Year awards - one of only a small handful or artists to accomplish this), ATYCLB bounced to #10 - only its third week in the Top 10 (it debuted at #3, dropped to #5 the next week and then fell out of the Top 10 until its return in 2002 for a week).

If HTDAAB can win Album of the Year and U2 gives a rousing performance (I was very unimpressed with the performance they gave in 2005), I think HTDAAB has a good shot at zooming back up the charts. Will it get to the Top 10 again? Probably not. However, during the holiday season it was bouncing around #150-175. It just fell out of the Top 200 again last week. So I think a return to the Top 100 is possible - maybe even Top 50. After that, it's up to U2 and their marketing team to see if they can keep the album up there. If not, it will have a few good weeks and then quickly fall.

Really? I thought it was a great performance of "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" as did other people. What do you feel was missing?

They should have played Vertigo last year and rocked the place. I cant see any point in playing with Mary J Blige this year if its the only song U2 will be performing. I hope they play Vertigo as well, but it doesn't look likely after seeing the list at the rehersals.

They confirmed they'd play Vertigo, but like you said that doesn't make much sense, that should have been last year and Sometimes should be this year.

It was a solid performance, but I guess I was unimpressed with the song choice. As others wrote, U2 should have "rocked the place". Last year was THE year to play "Vertigo". Yeah, it maybe was a bit over-exposed, but that was the song to really rock and keep things going. By playing a personal slow song that is not their best, IMO, I think it hurt U2 and the album.

Hopefully, though, U2 will play "Vertigo" this year and at least have that going for them.

It is going to really be interesting to watch what happens with the charts next week. Right now BOMB is not even on the Billboard 200 chart and probably sold 4,000 this past week.

Sales on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will count toward next weeks chart. Monday starts a new week of sales.

Besides the awards, another key thing will be how much press the awards get in the papers tomorrow and on the weekend.

HTDAAB has won 8 Grammy awards including album of the year! I know record stores will indeed market it that way in the coming weeks.

I would say definitely top 20, hell maybe even top 5!

Usually when an album wins the coveted Album of the Year award, it's still somewhere in the lower reaches of the Billboard 200, and makes a drastic spike.

I don't recall a recent Album of the Year winner coming from off the chart to jump all the way into, say the Top Ten. What an accomplishment that would be.

Indeed, I'm not absolutely positive about what the impact is going to be like. Its also going to depend a lot on the level of media they got in the coming days.

Here is the top 20 this past week and an indication of what U2 will be competing with on next weeks chart:

BOCELLI did 112K

I'll have to look back at U2's past Grammy performances but I think they have gotten up to nearly 100K after a Grammy night, but they were still on the chart at that point.

Its hard to say, they may not even crack the top 20, or they could hit the top of the charts which would be amazing. They would have a better chance if the album was hovering somewhere at least in the top 100. Will find out next Wendsday though.

At the moment, U2's sweep of the Grammy's seems to be prominent on major news websites, so that should bode well for heightened sales.

I see U2 pushing the top 10 myself. The miracle here is if the sweep at the Grammys gives "OOTS" a wave to ride on for a while and helps it walk on its own, so to speak.

It gets better...

It´s getting better and better-
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #35 in Music

It's up to #14 now...I would not be surprised to see it hit #1 online today. Their top 6 albums are now in the Top 200 as well. I expect OOTS to get a mild push as well. What a night for U2!

From those number they don´t even need to sell 100,000 copies to re-enter the Top 10. 80K would suffice.

Surely other winners would get a boost too but that would be two or three artist alone.

I'm sure that it will be back in the Top 20. A lot of internet sites are already reporting about the huge succes of U2 last night. The newspapers will also write about it and we will find U2 everywhere in the next days.

U2 are such an exciting band to be fans of! I like the fact that they won everything, that they beat Gwen, Kanye and Mariah. Let the teeny boppers know who the best is! Last time in the 2002 Grammy's, I went out and bought a copy of ATYCLB to help sales, but also b/c my copy was lost. But now, I have 2 copies of HTDAAB still intact, plus it's on my computer so I'm not going to buy it again. But I'm sure lots of you will re-buy it to help sales! No shame in it.

Does anyone know when and on what channel, the Grammy's will be televised in the UK?
