you never know.. especially with those numbers :eyebrow:

but i think they might land around 7-8th spot. purely intuition

numbers won't be that big this week..i think 90k will be more than enough to get into the top 5

That's sure, they won't fall out of the top 20, but it won't be Top 10 too. 100.000 sold would be a very good result. I think the bomb will be #12-#16.

10 %

U2 # 18 with 3,115

14.35%

U2 # 15 5,655

The bomb is getting better and is now #15.

leave out "afraid"...this week is much weaker than the previous one: only top 5 album will be over 90k copies.

I'm curious to see the figures for ATYCLB in the first week of the year...could someone post sales figures? or at least bring up the theread with all the charts' data? (and i'd i suggest to stick it as Important :) )

Here's part of doctorwho's big stats post:
All That You Can't Leave Behind:

Here are U2's U.S. chart positions for ATYLCB as of March, 2001
(first 19 weeks on the charts each line represents
10 weeks):

3-5-12-22-23-24-20-18-22-16
19-19-25-33-37-35-11-15-25

Sales for those weeks (rounded to nearest thousand):

428,000 + 176,000 + 119,000 + 125,000 + 100,000 + 113,000 + 154,000 + 259,000 + 108,000 + 66,000
59,000 + 57,000 + 47,000 + 44,000 + 41,000 + 49,000 + 85,000 + 74,000 + 55,000

Approximate SoundScan U.S sales after 19 weeks are: 2,149,000

ATYCLB was certified as Platinum in its 7th week and Double Platinum in its 12th week.

We would be now in week 10 for ATYCLB, more or less. That week, the album sold about 66,000 copies and was #16 on the charts. After 6 weeks, HTDAAB has also sold more copies already than ATYCLB did in 19 weeks. It was apparently certified as triple platinum just before the new year.

As for what would be a good week for U2 now, obviously not too big a drop. I would be satisfied if they could match the sales of ATYCLB in the same period and for a longer while. That would mean the album has staying power and will consistently sell. And 50,000 copies for a whole year also means 2.5 million records sold. :)

C ya!

Now, with 27.74% in:

8 5 USHER CONFESSIONS 21,695
...
16 21 U2 HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB 12,995

Now, this still says nothing. I mean, between 14.35% and now (27.74% so almost a doubling of the results) Green Day has sold only an additional 493 copies!

The only results that are remotely accurate will be the final results.

ATYCLB did 66,000 copies in this same week four years ago. I think "BOMB" will do around 60,000 copies, about the same as ATYCLB did four years ago. This is good!

I think it is best to stay relitive of what is happening currently on the charts...so far it looks like the album will be gaining in position compaired to last week so I see that as very positive.

Hmmmm, maybe I´m missing something here but I really can´t see how the fact that HTDAAB is now selling "only" as much as ATYCLB is a good thing. I mean, if we accept that the grammies push is not going to happen, at this pace, the Bomb will be selling much less than 50,000 copies a week when the tour finally begins. Such figures won´t be enough for the album to hit the 4 million copies mark (sales to consumers) by the end of 2005.

Sure the album will have a slight increase in sales when the Rock and Roll Fame induction happens, but that´s just about it. It all comes down to the singles and tour from now on.

Hope I´m wrong but it seems PM has screwed it again with the choice and timing of the second single. In my opinion, this was not the right moment to release All because of you (too much similar to Vertigo) and in any case, the video should have premiered on MTV at least two weeks ago.
Sometimes is a much better song, maybe the best of the album together with Miracle drug; they should have released it worldwide to keep the album´s momentum.

Maybe I´m being pessimistic here but I´m a bit disappointed at the moment.
I want this awesome record to sell as much as JT or AB!!
It really deserves it.

News from Hits:

"EMINEM STILL TOPS
IN A WEAK WEEK

Green Day, John Legend, Ludacris, Usher, Lil John Vie for Position in Top 10

January 10, 2005

It's a new year, but the same old story.
Eminem's Encore (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) will remain atop the sales chart this week, in early returns from retailers across the country, and it looks like the only album that will top 100k.

In all, the chart totals are down a whopping 35% from last week as we head into 2005.

Reprise's Green Day appears headed for #2, with Good/Sony Urban/Columbia red-hot newcomer John Legend at #3, followed by Def Jam South/IDJ's Ludacris, TVT's Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz, Mercury Nashville's Shania Twain, LaFace/ZLG's Usher, Columbia/CRG's Destiny's Child and WB's Jay-Z/Linkin Park and RCA/RMG's Kelly Clarkson.

This week's only significant release is Capitol's R&B/hip-hop soundtrack to the MTV theatrical film Coach Carter, which hits retail tomorrow (1/11). The lead single is "Hope," by Twista featuring Faith Evans with additional tracks by Fabolous, Chingy, The Game f/Lil Scrappy, Ciara, Kanye West, Van Hunt, Mack 10 f/Da Hood, St. Lunatics and Red Cafe's "All Night Long," the second single.

The year's first big release comes a week from Tuesday, Jan. 18, when The Game's Documentary streets. The album's the latest from 50 Cent's G Unit/Aftermath posse, which is expected to sell more than 200k."

They don't think that the bomb will be in the Top 10. I hope that U2 will change that!

i hope too...but they even state that Eminem is the only one expected to pass the 100k limit: really poor week in terms of sales
