Was wondering if anyone has any grammy stats for U2. Specifically:

-# of nominations
-# of wins
-detail of awards for each nomination/win
-how they rank as far as band/performers with most career wins

Thanks ahead of time!

I remember this:

1988 Album Of The Year-The Joshua Tree

1989 Best Video Short Form-Streets
1989 Best Rock Performance

1993 Best Rock Performance-Achtung Baby
1994 Best Alternative Music Album-Zooropa
1995 Best Video Long Form-Live From Sydney

2001 Best Rock Performance-Beautiful Day
2001 Song Of The Year-Beautiful Day
2001 Record Of The Year-Beautiful Day

2002 Best Rock Album-ATYCLB
2002 Best Pop Performance-Stuck In A Moment
2002 Best Rock Performance-Elevation
2002 Record Of The Year-Walk On

2005 Best Video Short Form-Vertigo
2005 Best Rock Song-Vertigo
2005 Best Rock Performance-Vertigo

Nominations:

-I think one or two for HMTMKMKM?
-1998 or 1999 Best Video Long Form-Live From Mexico

Also, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois won one Grammy in 1992. Best Production, or something.

They had 7 nominations for ATYCLB, and won 4 Grammys. In one category they were against themselves.

Incorrect, ATYCLB had a total of 10 nominations over two years and won 7 Grammy Awards. They won 3 Grammy awards the first year, and 4 Grammy awards the following year.

U2 HAS NOW WON 17 GRAMMY AWARDS!

I don't know any performing artist in history that has won more Grammy's than U2. There are a lot of writers and producers for various artist that won more, but right now, I can't name any performing artist that has won more.

I think sensnucksfan refers to 2002 Grammy Awards, when ATYCLB was nominated to 8 Grammies and won 4.

In total, ATYCLB won 7 Grammies, yes :)

And 2006 maybe will be historic for U2, so:

ABOY + video
Sometimes + video
3rd worldwide single + video
4th worldwide sinlge + video

Album itself

Maybe 10+ nominations :D

I thought I heard that Ray Charles had around 14 Grammys, and he won another 8 last night.

According to @U2, they are now tied with Ray Charles and Alison Krauss at 17. They are now 8th on the all-time list of Grammy winners. Amazing!
