Best Of - sells 2 million copies in Europe

According to the ifpi the 1990-2000 Best Of has sold (not just shipped) 2 million copies already in Europe. It has platinum/multi platinum awards in 10 European countries and gold awards in 5 others.

These figures show (again) that Europe is U2s biggest (and most supportive) market in terms of CD sales. I hope the boys remember this when planning the next tour.

Great to see this certification. Hopefully there will be some North American ones soon.

UK certification

In the UK the Best Of 1990-2000 was certified as platinum on the 8/11 - clearly copies shipped in thois instance, rather than salers. At the same time Best Of 1980=1990 was certified as 5 times platinum.

You have to remember though that a large amount of Europeans can't afford the expensive ticket prices that U2's tours have here in the United States, so the band definitely makes more from an American show than a European one.
