According to the "Sun", Atomic has hit #1 in 34 countries. If that pans out, it's a record surely to last a while. I can't remember if that match's or passes the Beatles collection...but even if it's a tie, it's impressive, and their may be a few countries yet to report officially...

Beatles 1 hit #1 in 35 countries in the fall of 2000.

34...look at this: 2001- February 12 - It is announced that Beatles 1 has set a record by reaching the number one spot in 34 countries, breaking the previous mark of 32 held by U2's Pop. It this point, over 20 million copies of Beatles 1 have been sold worldwide.

If you take into account that the Beatles album was a Hits package this is very impresive.

U2 will get the record

If 34 is the record and U2 has tied it this early after the release, then I think there is some country out their yet to report, or perhaps the album is in the top 5 somewhere and still has a shot at the top...regardless, I think there will be an announcement in Feb 2005 that U2 has hit #1 with Atomic in 37 countries...
