Based on your feedback we have developed a new more comprehensive ignore system. This new system allows you to ignore forums, threads, and threads started by people on your ignore list. It currently ignores these items when you are browsing the forums (you don't see threads or forums you have ignored), in search results, on New Post link or Today's Posts. It also skips them if you are using the next/previous thread links at the end of the threads.

To select a forum to hide you need to select the Forum Tools drop down and then select hide forum (see attachment). To select a thread to hide, use the Thread tools drop down and select hide thread (see attachment), to ignore threads started by people on your ignore list, go to the bottom left of the User CP where you will see a settings link and check off the box to ignore their threads.

Once you have ignored these forums and discussions you will not be able to see them in case you want to unignore them. So if you do want to unignore them there are tool in the bottom left of the UserCP to manage the items you have selected to ignore.

So now if you don't like the a certain forum, just hide it. Same goes with threads, if one is bugging you, just hide it. You can even hide threads based on tags. So if you want to ignore threads on a specific topic by ignoring tags. If you chose not to hear anymore about an ignore system feel free to hide this thread too!

As always, you can still choose to ignore a posts for a single member by adding that name to your ignore list in your user CP. Look for the option in the left side menu under Settings and Options. (just please don't practice on me) ;)

I think this is a cool feature. Especially for people that want to avoid spoilers or people who have a tendency to get riled up over certain threads. Hopefully it will be used.

I have to admit I was hoping for the feature where you could see who was ignoring you again. Yeah, I know it caused one hell of a ruckus, but, damn, it was fun while it lasted! :D :reject:

if i'm ignoring someone, and let's say that their post is quoted by a member that's not in my ignore list, will i then see that post?

Yeah unfortunately that hasn't changed. But if an entire thread is on ignore you wont see it at all.

:grumpy: Always knew you hated me Mikal.

I'm liking this new feature, I usually use the mark whole forum as read feature, but this saves me from having to do that for the forums I don't visit anyway.

This is kind of irrelevant to this topic, but more about new interference features, j/w how long have you been able to edit a thread title by double clicking it, because that is just AWESOME.

 That's one of my favorite features. I actually wasnt aware that members could do this as well.

What exactly is supposed to happen when we ignore a forum? I put one on ignore, but it still shows up when I look at the forums home page, and now it's showing new posts. What's the point of ignoring if nothing changes?

uh...i double clicked on a thread title, and it just brought me to the thread. i don't get it.

Alright.. obviously there is a problem. It seems ignoring threads is working but not ignoring forums. Let me find out.

Did you click the button which says 'hide forums you have ignored?'

I know it's probably an obvious question to everyone else, but I was puzzled for a while why everything still showed up, until I saw the box and had a duh moment.
:shifty:

Yeah I'm not sure if they just added that (fixed it) or if it was always there and that's why the forums werent showing up as ignored.
