Rio 2016 Olympics

If Lochte et al had been doing something stupid, why would they even say they got robbed? Or were they, like, robbed by a prostitute? Did he tell his mom and she blabbed and then a white lie became a big lie? Or is Rio just hypersensitive about protecting its reputation, apparently unaware that it has a really bad reputation?

I'm so confused by the whole thing.

Which is probably how Lochte feels most of the time.

This assumes all they did is something "stupid", whereas it could have been something more than stupid, or criminal.

The track competition was so great tonight. Usain Bolt and Andre DeGrasse are you new favorite bromance. Was happy that Gatlin didn't advance.
Elaine Thompson is having an incredible meet, as is Bowie from the US.
Sweeping the 100 hurdles was the icing on the cake. I was watching the live stream and the British announcers kept bringing up poor Gail Devers. Ouch.
Oh and Ashton Eaton can get it as can the Frenchman Meyer in the decathlon.

nobody was robbed. they unexpectedly spent all their money at a brothel and failed miserably at coming up with an excuse. that's all this is.

edit: yea track has been fantastic tonight. everyone up here loves the bromance between bolt and degrasse.

Under Brazilian law, reporting a crime that did not take place is itself a crime. The question is whether they did report it to the police.

that's what i'm saying though. lochte is the kind of idiot that common idiots wish they could be. i think the board of the US olympic swim teams mensa chapter thought they had a brilliant plan and went so far as reporting it to the cops thinking they could get away with it so their girlfriends and the public would take sympathy on the poor swimmers who were robbed by the criminal rampage going on in rio.

Understood. And he's fine, but his pals may be in some trouble now.

I'm not so certain it was a bromance between Bolt and de Grasse - when he was interviewed on our TV after the race he was saying that the smile and chat was bemusement and annoyance at de Grasse pushing him in a semi final instead of taking the foot off the pedal.

This is absolutely what would have happened.

Wait, so you mean Lochte didn't have a gun pointed at his head and then he told the robber "whatever"? That totally sounds like something that would happen.

I'm so confused by the pronunciation of Tori Bowie's last name as "boo-wee" rather than, well, like David "bow-ee". Whenever the commentators mention her I have absolutely no idea who they mean.

There's the town of Bowie, Maryland not far from where I live. It, too, is pronounced BOO-EEE.
