Little hand says it's time to rock and roll.
Monday Night Jihad by Jason Elam

From Publishers Weekly
Just in time for the Super Bowl is this debut suspense novel from a 14-year NFL place kicker and his Colorado pastor. The result yields some nice moments paired with problematic writing and improbable plot twists. Air Force 2d Lt. Riley Covington is given grace to play NFL football instead of serving out his military time, but he opts to return to active duty after a horrific stadium bombing. Hakeem Qasim is an Iraqi groomed for terrorism by tragic events in his childhood. The lives of both the squeaky-clean Christian Riley and the radical Muslim Hakeem intersect in a way that readers will see coming early in the novel. Rich details about life as an NFL player invigorate the story; the details become problematic when the story gets wordy (as in one long and unnecessary chapter toward the end of the book). Although the final [...] plot twist is too easy, unexpected humor helps leaven the serious themes, and the sparks of romance that fly between Riley and an American Muslim woman will pique readers' interest. Product Description
After a tour of duty in Afghanistan, Riley Covington is living his dream as a professional linebacker when he comes face-to-face with a radical terrorist group on his own home turf. Drawn into the nightmare around him, Riley returns to his former life as a member of a special ops team that crosses oceans in an attempt to stop the escalating attacks. But time is running out, and it soon becomes apparent that the terrorists are on the verge of achieving their goal: to strike at the very heart of America.

Blown Coverage also by Jason Elam

Product Description
Linebacker Riley Covington returns to another season of mini-camp for the Colorado Mustangs just as a wave of terrorist attacks begin to occur across the country. Sleeper cells are being awakened--likely by the leader of the Cause, who has recently escaped from captivity and is coordinating attacks not only on America but also on Riley and his loved ones. As Jim Hicks, Scott Ross, and the rest of the Counterterrorism Division follow leads in Europe, Riley goes on the offensive to draw out his attackers. But can the Cause be stopped before they're able to reach their ultimate goal?

From the Back Cover
Linebacker Riley Covington has never dreaded the start of a new football season. Until now.

The entire league is still reeling from the devastation of last season, and Riley’s status on the team is put in jeopardy by a new threat. Just as minicamp kicks off, a wave of terrorist attacks sweeps across the country. Sleeper cells are being awakened—likely by the leader of the Cause, who has escaped from captivity and is coordinating strikes not only on American cities but also on Riley and his loved ones.

As Jim Hicks, Scott Ross, and the rest of the Counterterrorism Division follow leads in Europe, Riley goes on the offensive to draw out his attackers. Unless the terrorists can be stopped, their next act of violence will be more horrific and deadly than anyone could imagine.

WTF?

How has this thread not taken off? Jason Elam wrote TWO football, anti-terrorist novels. That he wrote ONE book in this genre is strange, the fact that he has had TWO of them published boggles the spidey sense.

He needs to have 17 children or pander to the right or wear eyeliner to really pique people's interest.

They both have a 5 star rating on Amazon.

This could make for a good avatar.

I thought Blown Coverage was Dalton's novel about a secret love affair between two cornerbacks on the Detroit Lions, sent into each other's arms by the emotional turmoil of a potentially winless season.

Riley Covington is a Christian-American's James Bond: a holy Christian football player who fights those evil Middle Easterners trying to stir up trouble.

Or, as an alternative to "solo fly," he may even sew a flag, which would make for a mountain (rock), a flag, and an eagle.

Ass.

Don't be shocked if you find yourself being tackled and/or intercepted by Riley Covington tomorrow. While he's wielding grenades.

Can Michael Bay please make a set of films about these books? I think that would be kickass.

Riley Covington: OH SHIT...THOSE ARE HUGE FUCKING MISSLES

You're an explosion inside an explosion and a no-nonsense Army general away from a winner.
