swimmers only shave their body hair twice a year, for the two major competitions they taper for. it's also less about the drag created by the hair on your body and more about the feel of the water when you jump in after you have shaved.

speaking from experience, it's amazing. there is nothing like working all season, tapering down for a good two weeks and resting, and then shaving from head to toe, and then jumping into the water, and feeling your body tingle all over and just knowing that you're going to swim fast.
