The whole event is simply breathtaking in its horror and, in the aftermath, the official mendacity. Great article.

ESPN's 30for30 documentary on Hillsborough is maybe the best doc in the entire series that I've seen. And I think I've seen them all.

Hillsborough - ESPN Films: 30 for 30

I went into it with a very very cursory knowledge of the event and certainly knew nothing at all about the aftermath.

Another 30for30 I'd recommend is the Two Escobars.
The Two Escobars - ESPN Films: 30 for 30

Those two are two of the three best (the third would be 'Two Brothers') 30for30 docs I've seen and I'm not that much of a big soccer fan but these two are great stories and the docs are well done. Probably helps that I knew next to nothing about either of these stories.

I've always found it interesting how so much is focused on proving that the spectators had nothing to do with it (which was basically an accepted fact long before this ruling came down) and not on how this was basically a cover-up.

came across this tonight. it's very well made. i'd never seen most of this footage. some of it is pretty disturbing though, heads up.
