You know, an asshole is an asshole, but, I wonder how much Jordan's hoops history vs Quitness' has to do with things. Jordan was not a teenage hoops god. He was a McDonald's All American as a senior in HS but prior to that he was nobody. He played college ball at a historic program with an already legendary coach, on a team with cats like James Worthy and Kenny Smith and Sam Perkins and Brad Daugherty, so he had to have learned early on that he wasn't the only big fish in the sea...and he had his time with Coach Knight leading up to and through the 1984 Olympics, and whether you love or hate Coach Knight, he's a perfect tonic for anyone with too big of an ego. So I just wonder if Jordan, despite his individual brilliance and insane competitive drive, had the value of team and teammates drilled into his head by the time he arrived in the NBA.

Lebron of course has been considered a hoops god since he was a teen. Slimy hangers-on and Amateur coaches have been whispering in his ear since he was a child. He becomes a millionaire at 18, etc. He grows up in an ESPN dominated era where I is definitely valued more than we.

That being said, you can stay in college for 4 years and still come out as a me-first clown, I get that.

Nothing about how a person's personality is shaped is black and white, and, maybe James' DNA is such that he's very me-first and would be so in any circumstance.....but his path to the NBA has done nothing to help, let's put it like that.

Seriously though, I'm impressed by the Mavs. This is a team that has been known for a decade for their collapses, choke jobs, and mental lapses, and it's nice to see them step on the opponents' neck for once, and an opponent that happens to have one of the great mental games of all time(any team with Phil and Kobe has one of the great mental games of all time) at that.

The Lakers have had a great run, but I don't think they're coming back from this. No one's ever come back from 0-3. I don't think this Lakers team is going to be the first.

I've already given up hope (didn't bother to even watch Game 3), but why couldn't they be the first? Isn't a two-time defending championship team with that kind of talent more likely to pull it off than anyone else, especially against a team with a history of big chokes?

After the Red Sox comeback against the Yankees in 2004, anything is possible, no?

Anyway, I won't be watching Game 4. I probably won't be watching another second of basketball this season.

And FWIW, I'd probably root for Dallas over any other team left, which is saying a lot considering how I feel about the city itself.

You're a fan and you don't even watch the playoff games? This is your team and they're playing in the playoffs and you're not watching just because they lost a few games? Come on.

Why would you have given up hope after game 2? Like you said, they're a championship team that is perfectly capable of winning 2 games on the road and making it a series again. I could understand losing hope now, down 0-3, but why at 0-2?

Anyway, I don't think they'll be the first to come back, because Pau hasn't played well. I guess there's some locker room turmoil going on...seems Pau got dumped by his fiance and is blaming Kobe's wife. Pau's play is a big reason the Lakers won the last two championships and is a big reason they're facing elimination now. And just overall, the Lakers haven't looked that good in these playoffs.

Re: Rondo, I'm not much of a Rondo fan, but I have much respect for him coming back in the game after that awful, awful looking elbow injury. I have to also question why the Celtics allowed it before even being able to run the tests/scans they run to determine how bad it is, but respect to Rondo for coming back in.

Also, the play Rondo got hurt on was a dirty play by D-Wade. Some might even say bush-league.
