Woo the Script are back in town!

On another note - looks like I'm really going to have to shoot for that internship with Lockheed Martin (which pays ~$19/hr) because that's a shitton of concerts in October. Probably will have to skip out on Passion Pit because honestly I don't see myself going to House of Blues (which is far from where I am) 3 times in one week.

Two additions to the list.

The Black Keys (with Arctic Monkeys) - March 7
Kasabian - March 27
Snow Patrol - April 12

Matt & Kim! Forcing the removal of Gote and Passion Pit, because this concert list is getting way too packed and unaffordable. Specifically in October.

Lollapalooza on Friday!

One show I got into last minute but kept forgetting to list (so has passed already):

Anyhow, not only did I hit Coldplay yesterday, but I scored tix for two shows in September:

Today I made an on-the-moment decision to see Elvis Costello again, this time a solo performance. And he did not disappoint, as it was again an impressive concert! So that brings my schedule to something like this:

Concerts in the past:

14 October: Radiohead, Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam

During my holiday I had a last-minute opportunity to see Bruce Springsteen. So I did and he did not disappoint. It was an epic, 3 hour and 20 minute show. Wow!
I've decided to bail out on the Lowlands festival. Somehow I'm not feeling it, partly because most of my friends of the past editions are not going this year. But I'll make up for it by going to other concerts. I promise! :)

Updating my amazingly tiny concert calendar, temporarily:

PAST
03/31 - Juan Luis Guerra, Ruben Blades, Robi Draco Rosa - Coliseo de Puerto Rico - San Juan

UPCOMING
10/30 - Lady GaGa - Coliseo de Puerto Rico - San Juan***

*** - If able to buy a ticket, and make other arrangements as well. Looks good.

Ruben Blades was amazing the one time I saw him. How is he nowadays?

Age is getting to him, but he still looked and sounded great. Would have loved to see him live, separately, as this concert had three headliners, so the individual sets were obviously shorter. But it was still great, and fun.

1/23 - Los Campesinos! w/ Parenthetical Girls
3/10 - Colin Hay
6/10 - Radiohead w/ Caribou
7/14-15 - Pitchfork Fest
7/28 - Wicker Park Festival
8/3-5 - Lollapalooza
8/5 - Chairlift w/ Alt-J (aftershow)

9/7 - Bruce Springsteen
9/16 - Riot Fest
10/11 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse w/ Los Lobos
11/9 - Bob Dylan w/ Mark Knopfler

Removed the John Talabot gig because I don't know how to feel about staying out in Chicago until 4 AM without a hotel room. Nonetheless, it's tempting to swing by for a few hours, maybe until 1 AM or so. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, Riot Fest! The Stooges, Elvis Costello, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Built to Spill and many more for $35

Lollapalooza was awesome! Saw so many good bands. Forgot to add a few... The Who coming through. Andrew Bird, maybe... October is a very big 'we'll see' month.

Bombay Bicycle Club, Matt & Kim, The Temper Trap, Imagine Dragons, and The Script are all definitely happening. I hope all of these can happen, but... we'll see.

Black Lips were last Monday.
Fang Island was Saturday.

Opera tickets came in the mail today:
Two Foscari--Sept 29
Don Giovanni--Oct 6
Black Keys (not an opera)--Oct 8
Madame Butterfly--Dec 1
(Hopefully Bruce--Dec 4)
The Who--Jan 28
Flying Dutchman--Mar 30
Tosca--June 8

All that opera cut quite a path through my music budget.

5/17 - St. Vincent w/ Shearwater

Totally forgot to come in here and update...

8/10/12 - Coldplay, Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN

As noted in the thread for them, I saw Coldplay last Friday night. Had a fantastic time. Unfortunately, there's no video of my favorite performance of the night, "Violet Hill", but here's a couple that were just as great:

Coldplay (1080 HD) God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - St. Paul 2012-08-10 - Xcel Energy Center - YouTube

Coldplay (1080 HD) Viva La Vida - St. Paul 2012-08-10 - Xcel Energy Center - Mylo Xyloto Tour - YouTube

Really loved what they did with the wristbands, too, throughout the show. The effect was amazing.

Great quality videos!

I loved the combination of Violet Hill followed by GPASUYF. Definitely the highlight of my shows, and I totally agree about the wristbands. They were fantastic.

Yeah, gotta give it up to the guy who took them, they got some real quality clips. There's plenty more on YouTube worth checking out if you're interested.

Fully agree with you, that segue works really well. My poor shoulders were aching by the end of the show, I was clapping and waving my arms and pumping my fists so much.

With the addition of Jack White, my birthday month is shaping up nicely.

Ahhhh!! So excited I can't believe I got to make this happen! Going to see TATE with Devotchka and the Colorado Symphony!!

Red rocks

Acoustic devotchka or whatever the exact incarnation of the band it was that I saw open for the magnetic fields back in April was pretty good. Although I don't have any point of reference, since I know very little else about the band.

9/27 - Peter Gabriel
10/11 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse w/ Los Lobos
11/9 - Bob Dylan w/ Mark Knopfler

Shit's going off.

How was Alt-J, LeMel?

I'm still kicking myself for missing them, and Grandaddy, at Pukkelpop.

I saw RHCP on June 1st and Radiohead on June 11th in Detroit. 2 of the most awesome shows I've ever seen in my life. I was GA for Radiohead and was in the 2nd row, 10 feet from them, for their first time in Detroit in 15 years. Last minute, I was able to get a 3 day pass for Lollapalooza. It was hands down the greatest weekend of my life. I saw The War on Drugs, Metric, The Shins, The Black Keys, RHCP Sigur Ros, At the Drive-In, and Jack White all front row center. My ultimate music dream for years has been to see RHCP front row, outside, and it happened there. It was one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. Every show I saw there was top notch, and to be front row for all of them was surreal and perfect.

How was Alt-J, LeMel?

I'm still kicking myself for missing them, and Grandaddy, at Pukkelpop.

I couldn't go early enough because I lost my cell phone during Lolla and had to have a few words with the folks at lost and found. Now that I've heard some very positive words about them here, I'm kicking myself for not just heading over there immediately. Never got the phone back anyway.
