Some more thoughts after a second listen...

The opening duo of Zero and Heads Will Roll is sick.

Skeletons gradually builds to a big, beautiful climax. Or, if you will allow me to use a term I learned in Ms. Schmidt's 3rd grade music class, a crescendo.

Dull Life rocks. There's so much going on in that song, and the main guitar riff is just great.

The highlights for me are the three slower songs near the end of the album. Runaway, and the closing one-two of Hysteric and Little Shadow. The vocals are really crisp and clear and the songs are gorgeous.

Karen O. herself gave me permission to download the leak of this album when we met today for lunch. So I haven't done anything wrong. She had the salad, Italian dressing. And an iced tea.

I can't possibly overstate how perfect her voice sounds on "Zero."

Really nice album, better than the other two maybe. But the best song is Zero by a motherfuckin' mile. That song is freakin' awesome.

You have single handedly ruined Karen O's life, GAFfer.

And I can think of a few other things to do to Karen O involving a single hand.

HEY-YO!

But, seriously, I listened to their previous album Show Your Bones today and it rocked my socks. I'm in love with this band right now.

I actually think it's about the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Finally listened to the stream of 'Heads Will Roll' on Kanye's blog. It's essentially a dance track, which is pretty cool. I like.

This album

Fuck, it's great.

Flow sweetly, hang heavy
You suddenly complete me
You suddenly complete me

I know a little Mormon who is going to be quite happy about this.

Still 3 weeks after it's available digitally?

Finally got to really listen to this a couple of times. Really, really good. I love this band.

There's a couple I'm not overly fond of. I love the first 41 seconds of 'Dull Life', but I don't really like the main riff it goes into after that. Plus, it sounds kind of out of place on this YYYs album; it would've fit much better on Show Your Bones. And 'Dragon Queen' is a bit too dance-y for me. It sounds more like New Young Pony Club or Ladytron than Yeah Yeah Yeahs and YYY are light years better than either of those bands.

Having dispensed with the lesser songs, 'Runaway' is absolutely brilliant! The drumming on the song and the ebb and tide of it are just mind-blowing. 'Hysteric' and 'Little Shadow' are great, though I need to give them another listen. 'Zero', 'Heads Will Roll', 'Skeletons' and 'Runaway' are the peaks for me. Just gorgeous songs.

I must see them live again. They're so good!

Shake it, like a ladder to the sun
Makes me feel like a madman on the run
Find me never, never... far gone
So get your leather, leather
Leather on on on on

Your zero
What’s your name?
No one’s gonna ask you
Better find out where they want you to go
Try and hit the spot
Get to know it in the dark
Get to know it whether you’re
Crying, crying, crying oh oh
Can you climb, climb, climb higher

Shake it like a ladder to the sun
Makes me feel like a madman on the run
No, you’re never, never far gone
So get your leather, leather
Leather on on on on

Your zero
What’s your name?
No one’s gonna ask you
Better find out where they want you to go
Try and hit the spot
Get to know it in the dark
Get to know it whether you’re
Crying, crying, crying oh oh
Can you climb, climb, climb higher

Was it the cure?
Shellshock
Was it the cure?
Hope not
Was it the cure?

Was it the cure?

... I can't stop listening to this song...

Skeletons is a very nice song, yes. Love, don't cry.

But my favorites on the LP are Hysteric, Little Shadow, and Runaway. And Zero is a great lead single.

 This leaked? Weeks ago? Lucky I was moronically oblivious until the digital release date.

Zero is so good. :cute:
