Van Halen is BACK! This past winter they released their first new album in 14 years and their first with David Lee Roth in 28 years! The album is fantastic. Several of the songs are actually not new but re-recordings of old un-released material from the late 70s and early 80s.

Tattoo, the first single is based on a riff from the late 70s that was not used. The best song on the album, Blood And Fire was originally an instrumental meant for the album 1984. She's The Women is also another unused track from the 70s. Chinatown has a blistering pace for a bunch of guys in their late 50s. Amazingly live, they pull it off easy. Alex on the drums has just as much power as he did in the early days. You and Your Blues is also another stand out track. If you didn't catch the band on their spring tour, make sure you catch them when they come back in the fall.

In concert they play a lot of tracks from the first album. Unfortunately they have not been playing as many tracks from "truth" as I hoped. Usually only three or four. But its a great show!
