You know what else is a good song? Easy Lover, his duet with Philip Bailey from Earth, Wind and Fire. Great song.

I used to LOVE Phil Collins... Then I turned 10...

The same for me, although I was a few years older.

Seriously, I have said it before and I will say it again; No Jacket Required is one of the best albums of the 80's.

That's the worst album in my collection! (Yes, I realise I just admitted that I have this album) I initially liked it a bit, but the album became worse with every listen. The dreadful production. :yuck:

That said, I think that ...But Seriously is a really good album. However, due to No Jacket Required I never bothered to check out his earlier stuff (Face Value and Hello, I Must Be Going). And after his live album, Serious Hits Live, his songs became incredibly bland.
Nevertheless, as a solo artist, he deserves points for ...But Seriously.

Oh what the heck, I'll post another favorite:

YouTube - Land Of Confusion - Genesis

I loved that video when it first came out. Highly original, at the time! I've always thought that someone contemporary should cover it--a Radiohead or Pearl Jam version could be pretty cool.

...The drums at the end of In the Air Tonight have always amazed me.

Dude, seriously, if you dislike the direction he went after No Jacket Required, it is absolute necessity to listen to his first two solo outings. They're incredible imo, not bland in the least bit.

Oh, and I like Phil Genesis AND Gabriel Genesis. And Phil solo, and Gabriel solo. I also love The Living Years (Mike Rutherford).

I was a big fan of the movie White Nights and practically wore out the soundtrack.

Now that it is no longer the 80s, I realize that most of the soundtrack was utter crap ... but Separate Lives is still great.

I don't know how you would feel about it, but did you miss this cover last year or the year before?

Oh wow! Looks like a particularly unbiased mod has edited the title to say Phail! OMG that's so funny hyuk hyuk! Maybe we should add a list of taboo bands to the FAQs!

That's actually completely lame, actually. C'mon. Actually.

They're fools. And the scene in the movie when it plays is classic too.

Wondering if you appreciate Separate Lives to a similar level. When she comes in with that second verse...wow. Just wow.

I just watched the film for the first time a year ago.....it is a little dated, but it's hard not to like something with those three leads.....

Separate Lives does not do it for me like Against All Odds, but it's not a bad song by any means.

Here are other Genesis/Collins songs I legitimately like:

No Reply At All
Man on the Corner
Home by the Sea
Throwing it all Away
Turn it On Again
Tonight, Tonight, Tonight
In Too Deep
I Don't Care Any More
Take me Home
One More Night

There you go, haters. Eat it.

You're getting worked up over a single letter? Priceless.

Lighten up.

I hardly call his comment "getting worked up." But I don't think mods should edit a thread title unless by request or when fixing a spelling error.

Mod has something to say? Say it in the thread.

How dare they have a little bit of harmless fun.

How dare they.

Mods, Intarwebz forums are SRS BZNZ. No levity allowed.

Oh yeah, because they never have any fun any other way. Come on, man.

All I'm saying is that I don't think mods should change titles to make a joke. Disagree all you want, I'm just saying.

And now I'm done. :)

I see no problem with a little harmless joke. I'd be fairly amused if I logged on one day to find the Superthread has been edited to be the Stuporthread. But I guess if you're sensitive about how "uncool" your taste in Phil Collins is, you need to marshall all the defensive sarcasm you can about how it's "so funny hyuk hyuk".

I don't give a flying fig if someone thinks I'm uncool because I like a handful of Phil Collins tunes. Mock all you want - in the thread. There's no need to change someone's title to make fun of it.

Not that I think mods are going to start changing all the thread titles, I just think there's a line somewhere in there. You know, using their power for teeny mean evil or something like that.

I think "Phail Collins" is funny, for the record. I'm surprised no one made the joke earlier!

As I understood it was a joke amongst many on the forum to call him Phail Collins, thus I was not offended when the title was changed. It was all in good fun.
