So firstly, Little Lion Man is awful.

Shame about the lack of Oasis and U2 tracks, they should obviously be higher, and more bold.

Little Lion man can win, Art Vs Science were robbed! Not that I think either song were probably the two totally best of the year. Parlez Vous Francais? is a great song, but they were pretty popular. Which is seemingly the way the hottest 100 is going these days.

At least Sex On Fire couldn't make the list this year

Good to see plenty of Florence, A Crooked Vultures tune and some Regina.

Still a lot of wierdo JJJ stuff in there. Pretty forgettable top 100 really. '05 was much better.

Muse fans came out in force despite them all seeming quite lukewarm to their new album.

I'm a bit surprised to see La Roux, I would have thought they were too bubblegum for Triple J. But then I don't really have a clue about what's popular on Triple J. We very rarely have it on at work, I can stand it only for a while before it starts to do my head in.

So U2 are officially off their radar huh?

Well I don't know how much U2 were actually played on Triple J since 1993, but they came second in the 2000 poll with Beautiful Day though, didn't they? And no. 38 with Vertigo in 2004.

Beautiful Day in 2000, from what I've been told (wasn't paying attention to Triple J at the time), was pretty much the result of an online fan action.

... can't help but wonder if the depths of Interference may shed some light on that!

what is this "fundie bluegrass" you speak of?

personally i think half the reason the song became popular is because it has fuck in the lyrics.

Well, they've a bit of a bluegrassy vibe going on and some of the lyrics in some of their songs are kind of fundie. My main complaint is that they're boring as all hell, though; completely unlistenable music for bores. "Fundie bluegrass" is just fun hyperbole.

and just quickly - you all think this is bad.

wait until Triple M's Greatest 500 Rock Songs countdown finishes.

i won't post the list until it's complete, because it will deaden the impact it has on your eyes.

but it's bad.

It will be, since it'll still inevitably have fucking Mumford and Sons.

The fact that many people I know love Mumford and Sons, even some of my most beloved, is a burden I have to carry each and every day.

I have only started listening to Triple J in the past three months, but always follwed their Top 100's.Actually I don't mind the list, but Mumford and Sons at No. 1? What they have had one #1 hit this year?

I have started coming out of my "New Music is crap" Phase alot of the artisit on the list are some of my new faves :)

Sorz, Bonnaois. I know epic when I hear it. Plus, Little Lion Man played on a broken stereo underwater is two hundred trillion times more pleasant than Sex On Fire. This taking into consideration the fact that I would likely be electrocuted by the stereo.

if it's two hundred trillion times more pleasant than Sex on Fire, what is that figure if we replace it with Use Somebody?

and did you (or anybody else here at all) ever get around to listening to Paul Dempsey's Everything is True? Ramona Was a Waitress made this list..
