Pretty much what it says in the title. Rank the top concerts you've seen this year. At least it'll be a little different than the usual album/songs list.

01. Arcade Fire at Madison Square Garden
02. The National at Terminal 5
03. Muse at Madison Square Garden
04. Atoms for Peace at Roseland Ballroom
05. X Japan at Roseland Ballroom
06. St. Vincent at Lincoln Center
07. Gorillaz at Madison Square Garden
08. Metric at Terminal 5
09. Florence and the Machine at Terminal 5
10. Silversun Pickups/Against Me! at Williamsburg Waterfront
11. The Duke Spirit at Santos Party House
12. St. Vincent at Central Park Summerstage
13. Ra Ra Riot at Music Hall of Williamsburg
14. School of Seven Bells at Brooklyn Bowl
15. She & Him at Terminal 5
16. Alice in Chains/Deftones/Mastodon at Madison Square Garden

1000000. Crystal Castles at Terminal 5

Yeah, I saw a lot of shows this year.

I've seen almost 100 bands this year (think I'll pass that mark on Tuesday), so this is my top ten, not repeating any artists. All gigs in Melbourne except where noted:

1. Porcupine Tree, 7 February, Palace Theatre
2. Any Alpine gig, but if I had to choose one, probably 28 October or 13 November, both at the Workers Club (they have definitely been the defining live band of 2010 for me)
3. Crowded House, 6 November, Hordern Pavillion (Sydney)
4. The Chills, 14 May, East Brunswick Club
5. Isis, 25 February, The Corner
6. Jakob, 3 April, King's Arms (Auckland)
7. Washed Out, 12 December, The Toff in Town
8. The Night Terrors, 13 August, Curtin Bandroom
9. The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, 18 February, East Brunswick Club
10. Love Of Diagrams, 13 November, Workers Club

Can't quite find a place for The Bats (25 April, East Brunswick Club), even though I feel like they deserve to be there.

Ian McCulloch the U2 fan:
"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

I'll have to rank performances since I didn't go to many concerts, but I went to two festivals this year and that's where I saw most of the bands.

1) Roger Waters - United Center
2) Broken Social Scene - P4K Fest
3) Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - United Center
4) Cut Copy - Lollapalooza
5) Stars - Lollapalooza
6) B.O.B. - Lolla (Surprisingly enough that was a lot of fun)
7) The National - Lolla (Only ranked so low because by the time I saw them, I was in so much pain, I couldn't really enjoy much of anything any longer)
8) Mumford & Sons - Lolla
9) Liars - P4K
10) Arcade Fire - Lolla (This one ranked so low because I was about a mile away smashed in with a lot of people taller than me which was muffling the sound pretty damn badly. Also, they were after The National, so that pain level kind of hit a new high).

Not going to list everything, but The Strokes at Lollapalooza were my favorite.

I only saw a few, all in Seattle.

1. Arcade Fire
2. Lady Gaga
3. Wilco
4. Flaming Lips (not as good as the first time I saw them the year prior)
5. Neko Case

6. Muse (not nearly as good as the first time I'd seen them a few years ago)

and Bob Dylan, who I'm not ranking because I only stuck around for about a half hour and the crowd annoyed me so much I don't think I got a good feel for how he was live

Didn't you see the Lady of Gaga?

She had to have been better than Muse.

Yes. Thanks for the reminder!

She should be third on the list. Maybe second. Hmmmm...

It's not as sad as me remembering what concerts an online friend whom I've never met went to.
