So this is a sort of spin-off from the album thread. What are your favorite singles from 2014?

10. Digitalism (ft. Youngblood Hawke) - Wolves

9. Blondfire - Where the Kids Are

8. U2 - Invisible

7. Panama Wedding - All the People

6. The Griswolds - Beware the Dog

5. The Airborne Toxic Event - Wrong

4. The Boxer Rebellion - Always

3. The Mercey Beat - Sweet

2. Bleachers - Wild Heart

1. Night Terrors of 1927 (ft. Tegan and Sara) - When You Were Mine

Can it be songs? I have a playlist of my favorite songs of the year but I don't feel like looking up if each one was released as a single.

This is my playlist, it's updated as best as I can do with Grooveshark. It's in no order, and there are a lot of multiple appearances by the same artists. I'm really sad that I can't get most of the Bruce songs on there I loved, because "Down in the Hole" is just the best:

Grooveshark - Free Music Streaming, Online Music

My favorite songs of the year are probably:

1) Stars - "Trap Door" - No One Is Lost
2) RAC - "Let Go (Ft. Kele & MNDR)" - Strangers
3) Bombay Bicycle Club - "It's Alright Now" - See You Tomorrow
4) White Sea - "Warsaw" - In Cold Blood
5) Tycho - "L" - Awake
6) Against Me! - "Dead Friend" - Transgender Dysphoria Blues
7) CunninLynguists - "In the City" - Strange Journey Vol. 3
8) The War on Drugs - "Red Eyes" - Lost in the Dream
9) Eagulls - "Possessed" - Eagulls
10) The Jezebels - "Look of Love" - The Brink
11) Katie Herzig - "Summer" - Walk Through Walls
12) Sun Kil Moon - "Micheline" - Benji
13) Casualties of Cool - "Flight" - Casualties of Cool
14) Joyce Manor - "Victoria" - Never Hungover Again
15) Trust - "Icabod" - Joyland

And I'm going to stop myself there, because I could easily keep going. EMA's So Blond, Down in the Hole and Iris probably would've been the next few. Plus Phantogram, The New Pornographers, Caught A Ghost, Casket Girls, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Rick Ross (In Vein)...dammit...too many really great standout tracks for a list.

That song is evil incarnate.

Fuck that song and anyone who listens to it on purpose.

Because this cannot be stated enough.

Setting aside how obnoxious, plastic and derivative the music and production itself is, the lyrics are hypocritical and repetitive. Her army of writers pitched this track as a word against fat-shaming and wound up making up a new ideal instead of preaching acceptance for all body types. That's some sinister shit right there.

And holy fuck, Anaconda is on that list too. That one might be even worse.

Songs, more generally. Because what really is a single these days with so many "tasters" out and about?

1. War on Drugs - Under the Pressure

3. Clark - Winter Linn

4. War on Drugs - Disappearing

I don't really know what's cool or what's not, or who's shitting on what. I didn't even know Brian Burton had his hands on it. I kind of just listen.

I mean people ragged on me for being down with Imagine Dragons. I don't care. I mean their most recent works have stagnated and are shit, but I liked the start they got off to.
