I overlooked this band when the album first came out despite great reviews just because their name is so stupid. I gave in and listened a month later and loved the album but didn't give it a second listen until just now. Somehow, it managed to grow on me.

If you like Nick Cave menace and/or Ennio Morricone, boy do I have the band for you!

It's got an 80 metascore and it's rateyourmusic's 63rd favorite album of the year right now. Somehow Pitchfork managed to not review the album at all, but fuck them anyway.

This band is great and yes, they have been unfairly overlooked. I am only aware of their existence because of good old Anthony Fantano.

I was amazed that Fantano and I actually agreed on an album that wasn't punk or hip hop. It's increasingly uncommon.

They have something of a Fat Elvis thing going on. Like Having Fun with Elvis on Stage set to seedy music.

So, I listened to two of the posted songs and while I can tell this isn't really for me, I can see myself listening to the album anyways and objectively enjoying it.

Fat Elvis was the king of hot dreams.

Am I reading this the wrong way, or is "Bring Me Simple Men" some kind of gay dirge/anthem hybrid?
